We discuss whether there will be a season 3 of the Prime Video series Hunters and its renewed or canceled status.
Hunters is a conspiracy drama series from Prime Video, created by showrunner David Weil (Invasion). The series focuses on a band of justice-seeking outcasts, who hunt down Nazis in seventies America. Hollywood directors Jordan Peele (Get Out) and Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) serve as executive producers on this star-studded series, while Phil Abraham (Mad Men) and Sam Taylor-Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) direct key installments in the second season.
The Hollywood talent continues into the cast as well. Al Pacino leads the ensemble as Meyer Offerman. In season two he appears via flashbacks that address just how he formed the Hunters in the first place and what his motives truly were for battling the bad guys, even when he happened to be a Nazi himself. In the present day, the Hunters must reassemble to find and track down Adolf Hitler, who is very much still alive in this alt-history drama. The search for Hitler leads the gang on many deadly missions through South America, as they try to right the wrongs of the past.
The Hunters include the courageous Jonah (Logan Lerman), FBI agent Millie Morris (Jerrika Hinton), kooky bombs expert Mindy (Carol Kane), pretentious actor Lonny Flash (Josh Radnor), the fearless Roxy Jones (Tiffany Boone) and Sister Harriet (Kate Mulvany), a killer nun. They meet new fighters along the way, all in the hopes of capturing Hitler, who is played in stunning fashion by Udo Kier. There’s also the addition of Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) to the cast as a new, deranged Nazi hunter.
It’s an action-packed exploitation epic, with bloody violence and plenty of heart-wrenching emotion to keep viewers entertained throughout. Hunters is silly fun at its core, but it does also address the horrors of war and the aftermath of Hitler’s sinful regime. Those that have waited three, long years for a second season will now be interested to know if Prime Video will be renewing the series for a third outing.
Will there be a season 3 of Hunters – renewed or canceled status
Season two of Hunters will also be the show’s final season. The crime drama was renewed all the way back in August 2020, only a few months after its initial release. Then it was later announced that this would be the last season as well. It has been a long three-year wait for the sequel, which appears to also be the concluding chapter of this narrative, but I think fans will agree that it was worth it. In my opinion, the second season has a satisfying and conclusive end overall that will appease the core fan base, although passionate viewers are always eager for their favorite shows to continue on indefinitely.
Sometimes shows are cut short or meander on way past their prime, but here I’d say the Amazon overlords got it right, hitting the perfect balance. The narrative in season two is pretty succinct, and yet it still manages to tell a full story, developing the cast of characters further, whilst exploring topical themes. This feels like the right decision to me, and hopefully, fans will agree that Hunters ended in a cohesive and complete manner.
