The answer may surprise you.

What’s the story behind 80 for Brady?

Well, the premise for the movie is pretty simple and believable, as we find four Brady super fans deciding spontaneously to try and score some tickets for the Superbowl in an attempt to go and see Tom Brady and The New England Patriots in action.

Is 80 for Brady based on a true story?

A quick look reveals that the characters of Lou, Trish, Maura, and Betty are indeed all based on real fans of Brady, and it seems that a pitch to Tom Brady himself from one of the group’s grandsons was responsible for kicking off the movie itself.

Max Pensavalle, the grandson of Betty, works in Hollywood and sent the pitch when he saw the devotion of his Grandma and her friends to Brady. With homemade shirts, brandishing the name of their group, and match days being a way the group could meet and bond, it was instantly picked up by Brady, who would even send a video message to Max, expressing his interest in the project.

However, what may be known as dramatic license, is the fact that the trip to the 2017 game seems to be fictional, but apart from that, it seems that, yes, the film is based on a true story.
