Summary

It has a sweet sibling dynamic and shows that everyone can learn something new from their siblings because of different perspectives.

Directed by Pitipol Ybarra, we review the 2023 Netflix film All the Places, which does not contain spoilers.

The relationship between siblings can sometimes be strained, but they always end up being there for each other. Growing up, siblings may argue and fight over minor things, but as they get older, they understand just how little those spats are. In the adult world, arguments shift into more significant issues, and sometimes they can’t be fixed similarly. The beauty of these relationships can sometimes flourish in different ways as the siblings (obviously) have different personality traits and can help each other using their perspectives on life.

All the Places Review and Plot Summary

The Netflix film All the Places (A Todas Partes) is about an estranged brother and sister who reunite at their father’s funeral and make a spur-of-the-moment decision to fulfill their childhood dream of driving across Mexico on their old motorbike, as per the synopsis on IMDB. When we first meet the siblings, the brother is late to the funeral because he has to fly in, and the sister starts yelling at him. During the service, they cause a stir, but shortly after, they discuss where they’re currently at in their lives. On a whim, they go on a road trip within minutes to spend time with each other and make up for lost time.

On this journey, they discover who they truly are and understand that even though they’ve been apart for so long, they can still pick up where they left off. This is truly an adventure between brother and sister, and they learn so much about each other during this time. It’s almost as if they haven’t known each other long enough as adults, so they try to do as much as possible as they explore the countryside.

Is the 2023 film All the Places any good?

All the Places (A Todas Partes) is an adorable film about two siblings reconnecting and doing what they’ve always wanted to do. They end up jumping on their motorbikes, and director Pitipol Ybarra makes some solid choices to show the time passing. Ybarra personalized this from the beginning, with the opening credits honoring a husband and father who tried to keep their kids together and make them actively lean on each other. It’s all about staying together, learning from each other, and using each other’s strengths when one person doesn’t know how to move forward.

In some cases, siblings become best friends, and if people are blessed to have those relationships, they should hold onto them. This film shows the ups and downs of two siblings and how their dynamics can change over the years. They can see the similarities and try to understand the differences as well. It’s about embracing the other person because they are your blood, even if they choose to move miles away.

It has some hilarious moments between the siblings as they go on this mission across the country, trying different things and experiencing so much together. The ending is bittersweet because they know they will always be in each other’s hearts. And everything they’ve learned from each other helps them in the long run.
