Summary
In this hope-filled episode, things for Bell’s friends are finally looking up. Reintroducing some beloved friends only makes things more exciting while adding humor to an otherwise dark arc.

Bell’s (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) party finally caught a break last week when the Xenos swooped in to save them from a hoard of monsters. Although they still haven’t found Bell, the group is getting closer to figuring out what happened to him. Maybe with the help of the Xenos, and Tsuabki’s party, Bell’s friends may be able to locate him and Ryuu before it’s too late.

This episode opens with Ryuu talking to Alise about her argument with Kaguya. Although she agrees that trying to save everyone is ideal, it doesn’t always work out that way. Those that can turn their ideas into reality, she says, are the people we call heroes.
Bell’s party is doing much better with the Xenos there to back them up. The presence of intelligent monsters helping out is new and confusing to everyone but Bell’s party, so Lili attempts to save face by saying this is another dungeon anomaly. Just then, Tsubaki and her party also show up, tipping the scale in their favor.
What does Marie tell Lyd about Bell?
Upon seeing the Xenos come to help, Marie calls Lyd over to inform him that Bell is in trouble after falling into the lower floors of the dungeon. He immediately rallies the other intelligent monsters, with one staying back to update Lili on what they have learned.
With the Xenos “carving a path” for them, Lili informs everyone of the new plan to join forces. Together they will set out to rescue Bell and Ryuu. Although some of the group is skeptical, everyone eventually agrees to make the journey.
Bell and Ryuu vs. the monsters of the lower floors
On the lower floors, Bell and Ryuu are faced with a group of wolves. Ryuu notices that Bell has improved dramatically since they’ve been down there.
Behind them, a group of lizard monsters appears, and Ryuu manages to take them out quickly. However, things get rough when multiple Barbarian monsters pop out from the dungeon walls. Bell does hesitate to jump in, tricking the monsters into killing each other with his evasive maneuvers, allowing them to escape.
After being ambushed by a skeleton army, Bell and Ryuu find themselves in deeper trouble when even more monsters, ranging in type, also show up to attack. Bell and Ryuu manage to take out some of the monsters nearest to them, but not before Bell is hit with a poisonous spike in his shoulder.

Writhing in pain, Bell pulls the needle out just before stabbing himself with a unicorn horn knife, one of the most effective ways to nullify poison. They continue their journey, following their map through the lower floors, when finally they stumble upon the ruins of an arena that Ryuu calls “The Colosseum.”
With so much struggle and despair this season, it was nice to see a brief moment of triumph for Bell and his Friends. This season has been heavy on the action, making it fun to watch but also nerve-wracking as we hope our heroes make it out alive. The humor in this episode was reminiscent of the old humor before things got dark and severe. It was a nice change of pace before what is sure to be a dramatic last few episodes.
