We discuss Theories and the Release Date for The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 1. Warning, this will contain spoilers regarding Season 1.
The Last of Us Season 1 burst onto the scene with massive ratings leading to a quick renewal. The end of Season 1 saw Ellie (Bella Ramsey) on the verge of getting the surgery that could cure the world, but Joel (Pedro Pascal) couldn’t live with the fact she could possibly die. So, after kidnapping her and killing everyone in her way, Joel and Ellie were off to safety. The big question is what is ahead in Season 2 of The Last of Us. We look at some storylines, important names to know, and more.
The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 1 Release Date
After the massive success of Season 1, you have got to think that HBO wants to get them back on set as soon as possible. That said, Pedro Pascal mentioned in several different interviews that it’s possible that they start filming in the Spring of 2023.
Without any hiccups, we could see The Last of Us Season 2 debut sometime in 2024.
The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 1 Theories and Predictions
The Last of Us Part II video game is set five years after the events of The Last of Us. The story follows Ellie and Joel, who are settled down in Wyoming. But, as they live amongst other survivors, things start to get wild when Abby, a soldier part of a militia group, finds herself in the mix with Ellie. That is a pivotal storyline and focal point for developing Ellie’s character.
Alongside Abby, we should see some other new faces on the show, including Ellie, Tommy, Nora, Mel, Owen, Manny, Nick, and Jordan. All these characters should be expected to be cast in roles as they have roles in the video game. Another thing likely to land in Season 2 is the Seraphites, another group like the Fireflies that formed in this world.
Who will play Abby in The Last of Us Season 2?
Much to the detective work from social media, fans have theorized that actress Shannon Berry would be the person that would play Abby. This was because she is followed by The Last of Us creator and co-showrunner Neil Druckman on Instagram. It was also noted that Berry followed Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and the official Last of Us account on Instagram.
So could she be a fan of the show? Or are the fans onto something?
All of that suspicion said, as of right now, there is no confirmation for who will play Abby.
Will The Last of Us Season 2 be based on the game?
Yes, like they did with Season 1, The Last of Us will be based on The Last of Us Part II. The series will make some adjustments to adapt it to television like they did with Season 1, but overall it will follow the story from the video game.
One thing to be on the lookout for is whether or not they explore the game into two seasons, as there are plenty of stories within the second part of the game.
