Summary

It is such a refreshing reality series that showcases Country music worldwide and the importance of sharing stories.

We review the Apple TV Plus Reality series My Kind of Country Season 1, which was released on March 24, 2023.

Reese Witherspoon has been on the side of producing many different movies and series like Daisy Jones and the Six on Amazon Prime. Her “Hello Sunshine” production company is behind My Kind of Country, which is strictly a Country music reality show.

This series explores the relationship between storytelling and art, which is more important than many make it out to be.

My Kind of Country Season 1 Review

As we all know, Country music is massive and has its industry. Since Witherspoon is a country girl at heart, she came together with Kacey Musgraves, Jimmie Allen, Mickie Guyton, and Orville Peck to change the face of musical reality shows.

Witherspoon goes on to divide these artists and have them scout for talent across the world. Unfortunately, the general audience and the music industry place country artists in a box if they don’t fit the criteria that have been in place for decades.

Here, Witherspoon uses her platform to find artists in different ways and break the mold. Sure, the country has found some incredible artists, but it’s important for things to change as well.

Is My Kind of Country Season 1 good?

My Kind of Country creates a more intimate approach to finding various artists. It’s more tailored, and those working in the industry take the time to speak with the new additions. You really do get to know the artists who have been scouted by other artists.

That’s the main difference from other reality shows like The Voice and American Idol. In a way, those reality show competitions have grown tiresome for audiences because of how repetitive they both are.

It was just a refreshing look at the country music industry and how everyone can come from different places of the world and then they can come together to sing in Nashville.

To find people in different countries who sing Country and connect with the storytelling in a Country song is amazing to see.

Everyone has a story, and their story can come out in song lyrics. No matter where they come from, that’s the way that they can express themselves.

This first season is really entertaining and wholesome because of the stories each person has.

Reese Witherspoon had a brilliant idea to change the Country scene, and it worked well. She is using her platform in the right way to uplift other voices and help others achieve their goals and pursue their dreams.

Between the studio sessions and the live performances, it doesn’t even feel like a reality series. It’s more like a documentary series.
