Who is Victor Timely? This new variant of Kang in the MCU is shaping up to be an important character in Loki season two and has a history in the comics. There will be spoilers for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania did a lot to set up the future of the MCU, introducing not only Kang the Conqueror but also the Council of Kangs, a body made up of several different Kang variants, in its first mid-credits scene.
But while it showed the long-term plan for the franchise, it also hinted at what’s to come in the short term.
The other post-credits scene for the film showcases a tease for the upcoming season of Loki, in the wake of Kang taking over the Time Variance Authority at the end of season one.
This second season will likely be just as important as Quantumania for understanding Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and it will introduce a new variant of Kang, Victor Timely.

Who is Victor Timely?
Victor Timely, at first, seems to be an upstanding citizen, industrialist, and the first mayor of the town he founded, Timely. But, of course, looks can be deceiving.
He is, in fact, Kang Prime in disguise, recovering from his previous failed conquest of Earth. Kang uses the façade of Victor Timely to hide from the Avengers and lay the groundwork for his next attempt to conquer the planet.
Of course, the Avengers eventually discovered this philanthropist was not quite as upstanding as they initially thought.
During the comics story Avengers: The Terminatrix Objective in 1993, Kang’s love interest Ravonna Renslayer attempted to expand Kang’s base Chronopolis, and when the Avengers were forced to put a stop to this, it brought them into contact with Timely.
Apart from this mishap, Kang could keep his disguise as a moral citizen and influence the future without interference.
Who is Victor Timely in the Marvel Comics?
First introduced in Captain America Annual (1971) #11 in 1992, Victor Timely is Kang in disguise, living in 1901. Kang took this image to rebuild his strength after his defeat at the hands of the Avengers and lay the groundwork for future victories.
He became a successful industrialist specializing in the robotics industry. He founded the town of Timely in Wisconsin. Kang also hid his base of Chronopolis in the town, though outside to the timestream to make it invisible.
While Kang could age slower than everyone else, he was careful to make it appear Victor aged and took a new identity each generation. He introduced inventions from the future to wow his staff.
In 1929, Victor Timely Jr. recruited the renowned scientist and inventor Professor Phineas T. Horton, the creator of the first android, to his research into robots.
Over five decades later, in 1980, Victor Timely III made promising developments in computing and cybernetic prosthetics. He also developed technology used in the Sentinels, which proved influential when his future variant hacked them in the Kang Dynasty comics event.
Over the decades, Kang gathered warriors from across the timeline and created a strike force called the Anachronauts, which was again important for his eventual conquest.
Who is Victor Timely in the MCU?
In the post-credits scene of Quantumania, audiences meet a new variant of Kang called Victor Timely. He is demonstrating to an audience a new contraption and hints he understands how to control time. While not explicitly stated as a Kang variant in the clip, because Jonathan Majors plays him, it’s clear who he is.
Loki and Mobius watch on from the audience. Loki tries to convince Mobius that this seemingly harmless man is related to He Who Remains, the Kang variant that Loki met in season one.
Not much else is known about Victor Timely in the MCU, but he will undoubtedly be an important part of Loki season two, and his appearance will likely further set up Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
It’s possible that Timely will serve a similar function as his comic counterpart and is preparing for Kang’s future invasion. Audiences will have to wait and see.
Which Kang is Victor Timely?
In Marvel Comics, Victor Timely is a disguise that Kang Prime (the main Kang) uses to hide from the Avengers. Therefore he is the original Kang.
This is set to change in the MCU. Victor Timely is now just another character variant, joining the likes of Rama-Tut, Immortus, and the many different Kangs that make up the Council of Kangs.
It’s unclear if Victor Timely is a rogue Kang variant like Kang the Conqueror was in Quantumania or is a part of the Council.
