With just the right amount of action and emotion, this finale wraps up the season perfectly, giving viewers everything they could’ve hoped for.
We recap the Crunchyroll anime series Buddy Daddies Season 1 Episode 12, “Daughter Daddies,” which contains spoilers and explains the Ending.
Rei’s (voiced by Koki Uchiyama) father made good on his promise to attack Rei’s family, attempting to take out both Miri (voiced by Hina Kino) and Kazuki (voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga). While he wasn’t successful in his plan, Ogino managed to take out Miri’s mother, making things much more complicated for the group.
Although Kyutaro helps them escape the initial danger, things aren’t safe for this makeshift family, especially Kazuki, and Rei, who is planning to step away from the assassin business.
Buddy Daddies Season 1 Episode 12 Recap
The episode opens with Kazuki, Rei, and Miri back at home cooking breakfast together as it snows outside. It is Christmas again, making it one year since they adopted her.
When her teacher asks if Miri’s mother will be joining them for the Christmas program, Kazuki surprises them by saying it will only be him and Kazuki. Instead of telling Miri the truth about her mother, Kazuki says that Misaki is on a trip helping Santa give out presents.
Does Ogino kill Kazuki?
After breaking into the Suwa Estate, Kazuki and Rei split up, with Kazuki getting caught by Ogino. Ogino holds a gun to Kazuki, but Rei shows up at the last second, saving his life.

Does Ogino kill Rei?
Rei saves Kazuki from Ogino, only to wind up getting shot by the assassin himself. However, when Kazuki finds Rei, he is still alive as he appears to be wearing a bulletproof vest.
Who kills Ogino?
While being attacked in the kitchen, Kazuki and Rei kill Ogino together. Kazuki stabs him in the back, and Rei headbutts him, forcing the knife through Ogino’s neck when he lands on his back.
Does Rei kill his father?
When his father does not permit him to leave the organization, Rei chooses not to kill him. He instead shoots himself in the shoulder, making him useless to his father and the organization as an assassin.

Do Kazuki and Rei make Miri’s Christmas program?
Despite showing up late and injured, Kazuki and Rei still make it to Miri’s Christmas program in time to hear her class sing.
From here, the episode flashes forward to teenage Miri on her first day of high school. Kazuki and Rei make her breakfast in the diner they now run together.
The episode ends by showing viewers various pictures of their lives together over the last ten years.
This was easily one of the best episodes of the season and one of the better finales I’ve seen for a one-season anime. These were some of the most exciting fights of the season, and I was genuinely surprised by the scene with Rei’s father.
It was a better solution than I expected.
Not only did the anime close just about every storyline it opened, but the flash forward gave the series a good sense of finality. I wasn’t left with unanswered questions, which I always appreciate from a one-season anime.
