The Hating Game is a 2021 film directed by Peter Hutchings, based on the novel of the same name by Sally Thorne. It stars Lucy Hale as Lucy Hutton and Austin Stowell as Joshua Templeman, as the pair play a relentless game of one-upmanship against each other to achieve success in their careers, but Lucy finds herself growing attracted to her rival.

Palm Springs (2020)

The Proposal (2009)

When book editor Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is faced with deportation from the USA, she and her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) hatch a scheme to keep her in the country, saying she’s engaged to him! Andrew agrees to this plan but stipulates the pair must fly to Alaska to meet his family.

With several mishaps along the way, Margaret and Andrew must stick to their story or else get caught out by suspicious immigration officials.

Legally Blonde (2001)

Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is desperate to get with Warner Huntington III (Matt Davis), but there’s just one problem. She’s too blonde for him. Determined that this is not a deal-breaker, Elle instead gets into Harvard to study law, thinking that will win him over.

Set It Up (2018)

Harper Moore (Zoey Deutch) and Charlie Young (Glen Powell) are two overworked assistants dying for some time off. In order to get this, they set up a complex plan to get their two bosses to fall in love with each other, which is riddled with flaws and unforeseen problems.

Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

After his wife dies, Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) and his son Jonah (Ross Mallinger) move to Seattle to start a new life. Jonah calls into a talk radio show to find his dad a new father, who begrudgingly gets on the line and opens up. A reporter in Baltimore, Annie Reed (Meg Ryan), hears Sam speak and falls for him.

But she’s already engaged. Unsure what to do, Annie asks for a meeting with Sam to meet her at the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day.

Juno (2007)

When Juno (Elliot Page) accidentally becomes pregnant, instead of getting an abortion, she chooses to let Vanessa Loring (Jennifer Garner) and her husband (Mark Loring), a failed rockstar, adopt it.

But complications start to crop up when Mark starts to see Juno as more than just the mother of his adoptive child, which puts everything at risk.

The Half Of It (2020)

Ellie Chu (Leah Lewis) is a shy, straight-A Chinese-American student who decides to help the school jock Paul Munsky (Daniel Diemer) write love letters for his crush, Aster Flores (Alexxis Lemire), who Ellie finds that she is developing feelings for.

This is a coming-of-age story with some much-needed representation, and it pulls it off well.

The Lovebirds (2020)

After four years of being together, Jibran (Kumail Nanjiani) and Leilani Brooks are ready to pack it in. Their relationship just isn’t working, so it’s time to move on. But before ending it, they unwittingly become involved in a murder mystery plot and must figure out if they and their relationship can survive the night.
