We discuss the Ending of the 2023 Netflix film Royalteen: Princess Margrethe, which will contain spoilers.
Princess Margrethe is trying to live everyday life, but the royal family drama and her status get in the way of her doing just that. She realizes that she won’t be able ever to be expected because of everything that she is tied to.
The first film Royalteen focused on Margrethe’s brother falling in love with someone who wasn’t in the royal family. It still was from the female perspective with the young girl, but Margrethe’s brother had to deal with people treating him differently.
This follow-up shows the vast difference in how men and women are treated in all aspects of life. It’s sad to see the differences in treatment, but the one focus is on their mental health, which many audiences can relate to.
If you enjoyed the first film and didn’t like Karl Johan’s sister, then you will gain a new appreciation for the character in this sequel.
Royalteen: Princess Margrethe Ending Explained
After Margrethe found that they leaked the video, she spiraled into drugs and alcohol. It is a common way to cope, but she soon realizes that the more she drowns herself, the more everything will still be there.
Who did Margrethe end up with?
Ever since the controversy Margrethe grew closer to Arnie because of how much he had helped her during the tough times. Sometimes people are there for you the most without even realizing it. The romantic feelings they share slowly form over time, a sign of a perfect relationship.
The way their relationship flourished throughout the film did help audiences connect with their story. Everyone has that one person that they can go to, and it was nice to see Margrethe get a chance to open up to someone who understood her.
How was the controversy handled by the Royal Family?
Being the Royal Family, they, of course, had their publicist handle the video the second it dropped. However, Margrethe was more devastated that her family saw it more than it is shown online for everyone to see.
She spoke publicly at one point, which helped soften the blow because she spoke from the heart. And more people began to understand the pressure she was under, which helped her image.
Having open conversations about mental health is essential to end the stigma. And to have Margrethe go through something so personal in front of the whole world opened up that connection to other women.
Even though her platform was so massive because of her status, she used it for good in the end to explain how she was feeling. It’s difficult to admit your mistakes, but in no way should she feel ashamed after working through her issues with the public.
