For a while, Netflix has been entirely dedicated to allowing subscribers to watch anime.
Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune Season One has recently made its debut on the platform and has so far managed to please many fans and critics.
The story is based on a series of books by Carlo Zen, with graphics from S0-bin, published by Hayakawa Publishing.
The show features a society that has fallen under an authoritarian rule and a young rebel that joins a military corps to escape the regime but finds his chance of survival in his new position very low.
There are six episodes in this first season so far, and two volumes of the light novel have existed.
With a seventy percent chance of being read, this short article will answer the question, will there be a Season Two of Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune?
Will there be a Season 2 of the anime Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune – renewed or canceled status
The first season has performed well so far, but there has been no confirmation of a second season at the time of writing. Netflix usually takes around a month to gather all the relevant information about a series, including watch hours and completion rates, so at this point, there is no green light.
In May 2023, the show has a rating of 7.0 out of 10 on IMDB, which is a good score and bodes well for a second run, as the more positive feedback a show gets, the better.
As far as the story goes, there is plenty of room for a second season, and with the anime sticking close to the source, it would seem that if a second run is commissioned, there is scope to continue building the world of Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune.
There are a few narrative threads in the story that could be further explored, and the characters themselves are also quite well fleshed out, so fans would not complain about learning more about them.
The main protagonist Akira Ihotsu, who is voiced by Taito Ban and is an investable lead for viewers to watch.
One point of contention that may go against the show is the animation style used.
Fans are divided about the use of 3D CG animation, as opposed to more standard 2D anime, and both sides have pros and cons, but it seems that studios will do what they have to do to produce some of the stunning visuals in the best way possible.
If you are an anime fan, and perhaps you are familiar with the original material, then you have to check this series out and remember to come back and check in with us in case any further news about this show is released.
