We discuss whether there will be a Season 3 of the Netflix series Young, Famous & African and its renewed or canceled status.

Ah, reality shows. They come and go and try their best to blend a mix of drama and entertainment for their rabid audiences, who are constantly looking for a cast of characters they can invest in, almost living a vicarious life through them, wanting to be like them, and also wanting to have nothing to do with them.

Ever since the early days of Big Brother, we have been dragged into the lives of the hopefuls on screen, whether in a house, on an island, or in a jungle. The premise lives and dies on the quality of the players.

Have them beautiful, alluring, interesting, quirky, damaged, depressed, needy, manipulative, condescending, narcissistic, hot, cold, or even better, all of the above, then add more just like them and see what happens.

Cheap to make, and almost a safe bet, TV studios would produce these shows incessantly like a desperate YouTuber uploading daily to get more subscribers, but the charm of these shows would be tarnished by scandal and sensationalism, and audiences would start to lull, and the tide would start to wane,

However, there seems to always be an audience in some shape for these shows. In this somewhat cynical article, we are going to take a look at one entry in the genre and answer the question of whether there will be a Season 3 of Young, Famous & African.

Will there be a Season 3 of Young, Famous & African – renewed or canceled status

With Netflix dropping the second season of this reality show in May 2023, it seems they have not yet decided whether or not to renew for a third run.

The show follows a group of young, famous media personalities in Johannesburg looking for new work and opportunities while juggling their personal lives and relationships. This is the first Netflix reality show released by the streaming platform from South Africa.

The show was renewed for a second season by Netflix, so they obviously felt that there was mileage in the premise, but often with this kind of content, the shine can rub off quite quickly.

If you are a fan, there are a couple of new faces in season two. Look for Bonana Matheba, a Media Personality often known as  “Queen B,” Ghanaian musician, Fantana, and Namibian TV producer and entrepreneur, Luis Munana.

The show is not performing too well on IMDB, and at the time of writing, it had a score of 4.9/10, and there are a few scathing articles about the show in the reviews, but that does not necessarily mean that the show will not be renewed.

It will, as usual, all come down to the viewing hours and the completion rate of the show, and that information will be gathered together before a final decision is made.

A series is rarely renewed immediately after its release, and fans of this show will have to wait to find out whether season three will be green-lit.

I enjoyed the show more than I thought I would. The Netflix African series or movies can be corny sometimes but the South African feel and beauty really did it for me. I truly liked swanky. He really looked out for Annie. A true friend and being handsome definitely helped.
I do hope to see a season 3
