Where is Young, Famous & African filmed

Where is Young, Famous & African filmed? We discuss the Netflix reality series and its filming locations.

The first Netflix African reality show first made its way to our screens in 2022. As you would expect, it is filled with a cast of beautiful and influential characters, from the world of music, acting, and business, with  South African actress and media personality Khanyi Mbau pretty much at the core of the show.

The audience follows the crew as they traverse social situations, career-enhancing opportunities, and relationships. It does what you would expect it to do, and the first season was popular enough to greenlight a second.

There have been two seasons of the show, with sixteen episodes, and the show does seem to pride itself in its over-the-top presentation and sometimes self-aware silliness.

The relationships veer wildly from over-the-top arguments too, well, more over-the-top arguments, all dressed up in the wildest high-fashion clothing you have ever seen.

Whether the second season has done enough to warrant a third outing is an article you could find elsewhere on Ready Steady Cut, but this feature you are about to digest is more focused on the production of the show.

With my favorite quote of the series so far being “my doctor advised me to not trust one more bi**h,” ringing in my ears, you can trust us as we answer, where was Young, Famous & African filmed?

Where is Young, Famous & African filmed – a breakdown of filming locations

Johannesburg, South Africa

The main location for this African-based reality show is Johannesburg. Often appropriately named The City of Gold, the mega city is the largest city and provincial capital of Gauteng, one of the nine provinces of South Africa.

Of course, some stunning and beautiful locations can be used in this kind of show, with the cast often being seen at exquisite hotels, restaurants, and locations. Johannesburg was captured in many striking scenes over the sixteen episodes of the show so far.

Although naming every location our young influencers visit would be impossible, we did spot one or two of them from a couple of episodes, and we are happy to mention them here.

Palazzo Hotel at Montecasino, Fourways

This stunning hotel was seen in the show, with some of the cast visiting the venue in Johannesburg. The hotel is in Fourways and part of the Montecasino Entertainment Complex.

The massive hotel has two hundred and forty-six rooms and is easily accessible from the airport.

Nearby this stunning venue, some other landmarks include the Montecasino Bird Gardens and The Teatro at Montecasino, which is a prestigious theatre.

Summer Place, Hyde Park

This location is a well-known venue that hosts plenty of high-end functions and events. The building sits at the heart of Hyde Park in Johannesburg and is perfect for celebrity weddings and private parties, the type that the show’s cast would attend.

The Blue Train Trip

The cast embarks on the famous Blue Train Trip, and this event also allows a chance to see some spectacular scenery. The trip takes two days and starts in Pretoria, heading for Cape Town.

The journey is just under one thousand miles and is a huge attraction for visitors to South Africa,

Along the way, you can take an excursion to the incredible Big Hole and Diamond Mine Museum, located in the town of Kimberley.

Without turning this into a travel blog, it might interest you to know that a one-way ticket on a two-day trip can set you back about a thousand pounds, but that does include your dinner, wine, and the occasional cigar, and remember, always listen to your doctor.
