All good things must come to an end, including us hearing the lovely narrating voice of John McEnroe. Anyway, here is our episode-by-episode recap of Never Have I Ever Season 4.
Recap – what happened in Never Have I Ever Season 4? (Episodes 1-10)
Episode 1 – “…lost my virginity”
Devi and Ben both struggle to muster up the right words after they have sex leading to an awkward moment that puts them both down two different paths. Three months later, Devi is trying to impress Dr. Reyes to get one of the two college recommendations she does yearly.
However, after seeing Margot kiss Ben, everything flies off the handle. After Devi and Margot have it out, everything seems settled until Margot reads all the bad things Devi said about her during therapy leading to her spray painting “stupid bitch” on her car.
Episode 2 – “…gotten sweet revenge”
The case of who spray painted Devi’s car is ramping up. She is 100% convinced that Margot did it and plans on proving it. After overhearing one of the teachers talking about missing a class, Devi realizes that Margot’s alibi is a big lie. Ethan draws something on the chalkboard in class and crosses his T’s like the T was crossed on her car.
Devi asks him if he spray painted her car, and he says yes, but didn’t realize it was her car. All of this leads to Devi threatening Ethan to fix it. He comes over to fix it and says her yelling at him was sexy, and they share a moment.
Episode 3 – “liked a bad boy”
busts Devi kissing him. The two begin fighting when Fabs forces them both to promise not to see him. However, neither one of them want to keep their eyes off of him, but after realizing that she was searching for something to fill the hole Trent left, Eleanor tells Devi she can pursue Ethan. It leads to Ethan promising not to pursue kissing anyone but her moving forward.
Episode 4 – “…wrecked my future”
Sherman Oaks High is having a college day, and the students are freaking out. Devi knows she must knock it out of the ballpark with her meeting with Princeton. However, she blows her chance with Akshara (Princeton) by being pushy and combative.
Thankfully, things got back on track when she pleaded for forgiveness. After things get back on track, Devi realizes that Ethan stole Akshara’s wallet in defense of how she treated Devi. Because of this, Devi breaks up with Ethan and returns the wallet.
While Devi prepared to submit her application to Princeton, so did Fabiola without Devi knowing about it.
Episode 5 – “…been to New Jersey”
Devi and the gang are off on Ms. Warner’s New York trip to visit their respective colleges. A very excited Devi is ready to reunite with Blair Quan, the former Sherman Oaks valedictorian she admired. After arriving in New York and visiting the campuses, Devi, Eleanor, and Ben realize that college might not be in the cards.
Blair had dropped out, Ben struggled to fit in with the crowd at Columbia, and Eleanor bombed her audition with Gulliard. As quickly as things fell apart, a long conversation between Ben and Devi helped them both get back on track.

Episode 6 – “…had my dream stolen”
It is college acceptance day for the kids at Sherman Oaks, and Devi is excited to hear the great news of getting accepted into Princeton. However, her application had been deferred, but with someone at the school being accepted to Princeton, she was on the hunt to find out.

Episode 7 – “…had an identity crisis”
Episode 7 was a Paxton-centric episode where we see him battle internally with leaving college early while trying to be the cool teacher at his old high school. Paxton’s small hang turns into a party leading to Ms. Thompson arriving at his house and telling him it might be time to grow up.
After Eric fails for a fourth time to make the swim team, he begs Paxton for help. This leads to an eye-opening experience where Paxton helps Eric chase his dream while realizing it’s time for him to grow up.
Episode 8 – “…set my mom up”
With the decision of Princeton looming in the back of Devi’s mind, she realizes that her mom has the hots for Andres. While unsure how to feel initially, she was in a full-court press to play matchmaker.
However, after hearing Andres say he didn’t want to upset Margot, Devi knew she had to kiss and make up. After disaster night of dinner for Pati’s birthday, Andres and Margot left Vishwakumar’s household with more questions than answers.
While Andres comes over and plants a kiss on Nalini, Devi finds out she has been waitlisted by Princeton and turned down by the other seven colleges.
Episode 9 – “…gone to prom”
With rejection on her mind, Devi struggles to be honest with her mom and friends about what happened with all the colleges. It’s prom, and everyone is excited until they aren’t, as Fabiola, Eleanor, and Devi get into a limo accident that reveals the truth.
From Fabiola wanting to tell Devi she wants to go to Howard to Eleanor struggling with acting to Devi lying about college, all the cards are on the table. Just before she gives up, a familiar face steps in to help Devi get back on track.
Episode 10 – “…said goodbye”
The end has arrived for the crew at Sherman Oak High, and we find out that Devi is heading to Princeton. However, she is struggling with letting go, not just of her mom or friends but also Ben. Pati decided to plan her wedding the same week Devi was leaving, and everyone was preparing for both.
The wedding goes off without a hitch, with Devi able to spread the love of her family and friends one last time. Ben arrives at the wedding to surprise Devi and tells her he loves her, and she says it back. The series ends with a montage of everyone living in the post-Sherman Oak world.
