10 Movies like Transformers you must watch

We discuss 10 Movies like Transformers you must watch. Add these well-recommended and highly-rated films to your watch list.

In 2007, Transformers was one of the biggest blockbusters to come out.

You had the traction from the comics, toys, and animated television series, Shia LaBeouf breaking out of the Disney circle, and Michael Bay at the helm. At the time, this was one of the best action movies to come out.

No matter how you feel about Bay and his flashy, over-the-top direction, he was the only one who understood what to do with Transformers. His style worked for the characters and to this day the first film is still considered the best one of the franchise.

The films listed below have all addressed technological advancements and contemplate if humans could actually live with robots.

10 Movies like Transformers

Pacific Rim (2013)

After the stunning film Pan’s Labyrinth people tend to forget that Guillermo del Toro directed this fun sci-fi action adventure. A war between humankind and monstrous sea creatures wages on, and a former pilot and a trainee are paired up to drive a seemingly obsolete special weapon in an effort to save the world.

Eagle Eye (2008)

In the early 2000s, you couldn’t touch Shia LaBeouf and this is one of his most under-appreciated action films. Jerry and Rachel are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met.

Threatening their lives and family, she pushes the two of them into a series of dangerous situations, using technology.

I, Robot (2004)

Due to the fact that technological advancements were on the rise in the early 2000s and it was seen as a transitional period, anything to do with robots or high tech was integrated into films. In 2035, a technophobic cop investigates a crime that may have been perpetrated by a robot, which leads to a larger threat to humanity.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)

For those who are Terminator fans, everyone says that T2 is one of the best sequels ever. A cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her ten-year-old son John from an even more advanced and powerful cyborg.

Iron Man (2008)

When Iron Man came out it changed pop culture as we know it. Jon Favreau was known for Elf and a string of low-brow comedies, but he came out swinging with this as it kicked off the MCU.

After being held captive in an Afghan cave, billionaire engineer Tony Stark creates a unique weaponized suit of armor to fight evil.

Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Edge of Tomorrow otherwise marketed as Live, Die, Repeat is a time-loop film that did not get the recognition it deserved when it came out. In the distant future, a soldier fighting aliens gets to relive the same day over and over again, the day restarting every time he dies. He learns more information every time he respawns in order to save the world.

Wall E (2008)

Pixar did make one of the most emotional films involving a robot and the future of mankind. In the distant future, a small waste-collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind. We get to see the fate of the Earth as humans completely destroyed it with technology and not caring for nature.

Real Steel (2011)

Director Shawn Levy has made a name for himself because he knows how to pull out the emotional moments through technology and his characters. In Real Steelrobot boxing is a top sport and a struggling ex-boxer feels he’s found a champion in a discarded robot.

Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

Director Denis Villeneuve knows how to direct sci-fi epics and he made a great sequel to the original Blade Runner. Young Blade Runner K’s discovery of a long-buried secret leads him to track down former Blade Runner Rick Deckard, who’s been missing for thirty years.

Battleship (2012)

Director Peter Berg had a string of action films that impressed audiences because of the strong visuals, quick edits, and swift camerawork. A fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to thwart their destructive goals.
