10 Movies like The Accountant you must watch

We discuss 10 Movies like The Accountant you must watch. Add these well-recommended and highly-rated films to your watch list.

Sometimes Batman and moody press junket attendee Ben Affleck would star in this number-driven thriller in 2016. Ben would play the part of Christian Wolff. He is a genius in his field of accountancy who has a better relationship with his spreadsheets than with the people in his life.

He works for some shady organizations, but his skill in the field has not gone unnoticed. He takes on a legitimate client, hoping to untangle their messy accounts, but events start to escalate around him, leaving him in deadly danger.

We know that Ben and this movie have fans, so if you are looking for something to watch, here’s our list of ten movies like The Accountant that you must watch.

10 Movies like The Accountant

John Wick (2014)

Ben and Keanu have similar acting styles, and depending on your viewpoint, both could be said to underplay their roles. The first Wick movie is a masterclass in action thrillers, launching a franchise that is still going strong.

Law Abiding Citizen (2009)

Everyone’s favorite Scottish mad lad Gerard Butler stars in this action thriller that follows Clyde Shelton, a man on a path for revenge not only against the killers that took his family from him but against the entire judicial system that has failed him.

The Courier (2012)

Ex-Watchmen sociopath Jeffery Dean Morgan stars in this thriller that has another skilled employee working for some dodgy agencies.

Morgan’s latest gig has him delivering a mystery box of a McGuffin to the mysterious Evil Sivle and encountering all manner of problems along the way.

Fire With Fire (2012)

Here’s an odd little film with Bruce Willis in it, although he doesn’t have top billing and is relegated to a smaller role. The ordinary Joe here is fireman Jeremy Coleman who witnesses a robbery and murder at a convenience store.

He testifies against the perpetrator but finds his life and those around him in terrible danger.

Bastille Day (2016)

Lion-fighting super-cop Idris Elba and pint-sized Scottish bodyguard Richard Madden star in this explosive European crime thriller. Madden is a pickpocket that steals the wrong package, a bomb that explodes, killing four people and putting him on a terrorist hit list.

However, there is more to the story, and a government conspiracy has to switch gears to remove everyone involved in their botched scheme.

The film would later be renamed The Take.

Mercury Rising (1998)

Bruce Willis is in his second entry on the list, with this nineties thriller that does have him in top billing. Here we have another genius in the screenplay, but unlike Ben, this genius is a nine-year-old kid who can deconstruct top-secret codes.

However, his ability has put him in danger, and Bruce has to protect him.

Peppermint (2018)

Ex-Ben Affleck lover Jennifer Garner takes center stage here in a tale of revenge and retribution.

A violent and seemingly random attack leaves Riley North wounded and traumatized.

Five years after the murder of her husband and child, Riley is back and looking to settle the score with the people that ruined her life.

State of Play (2009)

Overweight Australian exorcist Russell Crowe stars in this classic BBC TV series adaptation.

The film has an all-star cast including, of course, Ben Affleck and Hollywood A-listers Helen Mirren and Rachael McAdams, and follows the twisted tale of a conspiracy that involves assassins and corporate cover-ups, and the journalist trying to get to the bottom of it.

Moneyball (2011)

Not so much an action thriller, but this Brad Pitt-led flick does have some suspenseful moments. This baseball-themed movie finds Brad desperate, trying to build a team with a low budget and few prospects.

However, using statistics and data that The Accountant would be proud of provides some answers to Billy Beane’s problems.

D.O.A (1949)

Let’s finish with a classic. Frank Bigelow is the accountant here that finds himself in hot water after a holiday in San Francisco before he gets married to Paula.

However, after a wild night out, he finds that he has been poisoned and only has a week to live. With no cure, the accountant finds out who murdered him and why.
