Summary
The finale is slightly anticlimactic, offering little resolution to the ongoing subplots. It’s quite the rushed ending as well, but there is still plenty of room to showcase I’m a Virgo’s dazzling innovation, regardless, while another visual exploration of capitalism is effectively produced.
We recap the Prime Video series I’m a Virgo Season 1 Episode 7, “Cellphone on a Headband,” which contains spoilers and explains the Ending.
The season finale of I’m a Virgo concentrates on the final showdown between the 19-year-old giant Cootie (Jharrel Jerome) and billionaire Jay Whittle, aka The Hero (Walton Goggins). Cootie and his friends have tried to take down the city’s central energy company, but they are attacked by The Hero in return for this act of vandalism.
I’m a Virgo Season 1 Episode 7 Recap
Episode seven begins with a news report confirming the power plant attack. Cootie and his team have successfully broken into and vandalized the place. This helps restore power to the city, but the energy company soon reverses Cootie’s hard work, sending them into darkness again.
Back at Cootie’s home, the gang is then attacked by The Hero. Aunt Lafrancine and Uncle Martisse have fortified the home the best they can, but The Hero’s weaponry is slowly breaking through.
Felix, Flora, and the shrunken people choose to escape via a cellar door.
Why is Cootie upset with his aunt and uncle?
Before leaving himself, Cootie argues with his carers. Cootie is annoyed that they lied to him for all that time. His aunt and uncle try to defend themselves, but Cootie has had enough. He wishes to go to Jones, the only friend he feels he can trust at this moment in time.
It isn’t safe out on the streets, though. Cootie is attacked by The Hero once again. Aunt Lafrancine protects him the best she can, but Cootie is in trouble. He hides out with the cult, although they don’t want to protect him.
Instead, Cootie has fallen into their trap.
What does the cult want from Cootie?
The cult wants to extract one of Cootie’s eyes as a sacrifice to the Gods, to save themselves from their impending doom. Cootie manages to escape their torture device and returns to the streets. Angered by the cult members’ trickery, Cootie takes on The Hero.
Cootie easily defeats The Hero, dragging him through the streets. The Hero apologizes, explaining how he needed Cootie to be a villain to inspire the population. But he misjudged the giant. He offers to work alongside Cootie, hoping that together they can make a real difference in the world.
This is all just a distraction, though; The Hero uses a drone from behind to capture Cootie again.
With Cootie in chains, The Hero gets to work beating the giant until he is silenced. He plans to keep Cootie locked away in his custom-built prison for the next few decades. Next, Jones rushes out to Cootie’s aid.
She may not have any super-strength, but Jones has her own superpower. She convinces The Hero that he is part of the problem.
I’m a Virgo Season 1 Ending Explained
Jones lays out one of her elaborate pitches, discussing the problems of capitalism in depth. She talks of unemployment leading to illegal business and then further violence. Jones proposes that The Hero and the system fuel these crimes; they are the problem.
At the end of Season 1, The Hero wakes from Jones’ hypnotic speech and realizes that he is in the wrong. He walks away from Cootie and then flies off into the distance. Cootie frees himself from the chains and stands with his friends. His rashes have worsened, though. They’ve now spread and are pulsating. Cootie scratches at the rashes and breaks the top layer of skin, revealing something moving underneath.
