We discuss 10 Movies like The Clique you must watch. Add these well-recommended and highly-rated films to your watch list.
The Clique is a 2008 film that went straight to video, and not many people even know about it.
The film is about a young girl who tries to fit in with a clique of popular middle school girls after moving into the guest house of one of their homes.
Apart from Bridgit Mendler, who made a name for herself, and maybe Elizabeth McLaughlin, who later starred in Pretty Little Liars, the film didn’t really grab everyone, but it has gained a cult following.
The films on this list all have cult followings and are filled with teen angst. Some have to do with female friendships, and others have to deal with high school relationships that can get difficult to handle.
10 Movies like The Clique
Bring It On (2000)
Nothing can top the success of this cheerleading movie. Even the many sequels they made after it, the original was a cultural reset, and Kirsten Dunst became a superstar. A champion high school cheerleading squad discovers its previous captain stole all their best routines from an inner-city school and must scramble to compete at this year’s championships.
Mean Girls 2 (2011)
Let’s face it; no one wanted the sequel to Mean Girls because it became an instant classic. However, the sequel is a funny straight-to-DVD film that is fun to watch. The Plastics are back in the long-awaited follow-up to the smash hit Mean Girls — and now the clique is more fashionable, funny, and ferocious than ever.
Bratz (2007)
Similar to the Barbie movie being released, Bratz dolls were everywhere. And they decided to make a movie about them because of the success of the doll. During their first year of high school, the four best girlfriends face off against the president of the domineering student body, who wants to split them into different social cliques.
Picture This (2008)
Ashely Tisdale was riding a high with her music career and, of course, High School Musical, so she was obviously capable of leading a film on her own. A high school girl is invited to a party by the most popular boy in school — the only trouble is she’s grounded.
The First Time (2012)
A shy senior and a down-to-earth junior fall in love over one weekend. Surprisingly, Dylan O’Brien and Britt Robertson had some great chemistry and sold their relationship. Both were coming off teen shows Teen Wolf and The Secret Circle.
Bride Wars (2009)
Two best friends, Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson, become rivals when they scheduled their respective weddings on the same day. They do try to sabotage each other, but in the end, the weddings don’t mean more than their friendship.
The Duff (2015)
Unfortunately, “DUFF” stands for “designated ugly fat friend” and isn’t a great acronym. A high school senior instigates a social pecking order revolution after finding out that she has been labeled the DUFF by her prettier, more popular counterparts.
The House Bunny (2008)
The early 2000s had Anna Faris shining in almost anything she was in. If you appreciated her humor in the Scary Movie franchise, then The House Bunny is right there next to it. After a Playboy bunny named Shelley is kicked out of the Mansion, she finds a job as the house mother for a sorority full of socially awkward girls.
Senior Year (2022)
Recently, Rebel Wilson has come back to grace the screen in this lighthearted Netflix comedy. A cheerleading stunt gone wrong landed her in a 20-year coma. Now she’s 37, newly awake and ready to live out her high school dream: becoming prom queen.
Sleepover (2004)
After the success of Spy Kids, Alexa Vega did a teen movie that everyone fell in love with but barely remembers. Desperate to improve their social status, four best friends enter into an all-night scavenger hunt against the popular clique at their school.
