Will there be a Season 3 of the Korean Drama series Tale of the Nine Tailed – renewed or canceled status

We discuss whether there will be a Season 3 of the Supernatural K-Drama Tale of the Nine Tailed and its renewed or canceled status.

Tales of the Nine Tailed is a Korean supernatural drama that stars Lee Dong-wook, Kim Bum, and Jo Bo-ah as they try to defend humanity from evil spirits that menace humanity and the mystical world, all while engaging in a forbidden romance.

It’s got an element of dark fantasy to it as well.

The second season of the show recently aired on the South Korean network tvN, prompting fans to wonder whether there will be another season of the hit series. We’ve looked at whether there might be another season of the show and when audiences might be able to see it on Amazon Prime Video.

Will there be a Season 3 of the Korean Drama series Tale of the Nine Tailed – renewed or canceled status

Tale of the Nine Tailed hasn’t been renewed for a third season by its broadcaster tvN yet, but it hasn’t been ruled out either, meaning that it’s possible.

A representative from the network Newsen, as translated by Soompi, said, “We’re leaving all possibilities open, but at present, nothing has yet been set in stone.”

A third season would be quite far from releasing if it were to be greenlit, as the second season aired a year and a half after the first. Viewers might be looking at a similar timescale for a third season, which would mean that it would debut towards the end of 2024 or possibly in early 2025.

It’s really likely that Lee Dong-wook and Jo Bo-ah would return for the third season should it happen, and the audiences would witness more flashbacks between the pair.

Something that might delay the production of another season is that lead actor Lee Dong-wook has an upcoming project on Disney+ called The Killer’s Shopping Mall, which is a spin-off of 2022’s The Killer’s Shopping List.

It’s set to come out sometime in 2024, so it might clash with Lee Dong-wook’s work on another season of Tale of the Nine Tailed. It’s unknown if the other actors have work planned that might delay production.

Tale of the Nine Tailed is a Korean drama that manages to blend supernatural elements, a quest for revenge, and the desire for forbidden love. It follows the character Lee Yeon (Lee Dong-wook), a legendary nine-tailed fox, which is known as a  gumiho; the series goes on a thrilling quest to make sure humanity is kept safe from evil spirits and otherworldly beings.

But beneath Lee Yeon’s cold exterior is a tragic past with a human called Nam Ji Ah (Jo Bo-ah). And together, they encounter and solve several problems and defeat the terrifying forces that threaten both the human and spiritual worlds.

The show manages to weave many genres together, like romance, suspense, and mystery. pulling on a rich depth of Korean mythology.
