Summary
This a slower episode that is saved by the very exciting reveal in the last few moments.
We recap the Crunchyroll anime series Masamune-kun’s Revenge R Season 2 Episode 3, “They Show Up When You Least Expect It,” which contains spoilers.
After losing his cool and slipping up last week during Aki’s (voiced by Ayaka Ohashi) story, for all viewers know, Masamune’s (voiced by Natsuki Hanae) cover could be completely blown.
While it was definitely interesting to see Aki’s take on the “pig’s foot” incident, it’s hard to decide if her point of view should be taken with a grain of salt or if the whole thing was just one big misunderstanding.
Either way, it’s doubtful that Masamune will let this go any time soon, especially when he’s been plotting his revenge for the last decade if this all turns out to be a mistake. However, who knows what he’ll do without destroying Aki to obsess over.

Frank comes to Japan to confront Masamune for abandoning his sister. However, he decides to forgive Masamune, as it seems his love story with Aki inspired Muriel to work on a new manuscript like she wanted.
Why does Kanetsugu need Aki’s money?
Kanetsugu needs Aki’s money to help care for their younger sister, Sumire, who is under constant care at the hospital due to an unknown condition.
They’ve been using an old marriage agreement to con their way into marrying Aki in order to pay for Sumire’s treatment.
Masamune-kun’s Revenge R Season 2 Episode 3 Ending Explained
Masamune appears at Aki’s mansion, where Yoshino informs him she is not home. He says it’s fine, as he was looking to clear up some things on his own.
He then admits that his perspective on the entire situation may have been skewed as a child, especially since he didn’t realize other children were living in the mansion at the time. He only assumed that Aki called him “pig’s foot” that day.
Masamune realizes only he, Yoshino, and the children bullying him that day know the nickname in the first place. He then confronts Yoshino, asking how she knows the nickname, as a flashback reveals it was actually her who called Masamune that name in the first place.
This episode started off pretty slow at first. It felt like there were a lot of unnecessary parts, like Fujinomiya’s crush on Masamune. I honestly thought we were done with that storyline, as it’s clearly going nowhere.

The only thing it was good for was opening Masamune’s eyes to the idea of differing perspectives, but the manuscript did that anyway.
While I was upset that the Paris arc ended so quickly, I understood why by the end of the episode. Introducing Muriel was important, but her character was really more of a catalyst for Masamune to realize he may have been wrong this whole time.
I enjoyed how they used that arc to get us to this point, as this storyline seems to be heating up and moving quicker now.
Although it took until the end to get interesting, this was still a fun episode that will hopefully lead to even more reveals next week.
