Pokémon is an adventure fantasy series that surrounds Ash, a Pokémon master, along with his friends, who travel around the world to capture as many pocket monsters as they can. 

Pokémon has become so incredibly popular across the world that it’s inspired multiple films, toys, games, and multiple series. Impressively and sadly, after 25 years, Ash’s story has finally come to an end.

The final episode of the original Pokémon anime aired in Japan on March 24, 2023, which is truly the end of an era. Fans will be happy to know that the series will continue with a new anime, Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Yu-Gi-Oh! 

Yu-Gi-Oh! the series shares the same battle themes. The show features the story of protagonist Yugi Muto, a young boy who loves to play the Duel Monsters card game. Similar to Pokemon’s gym badges, Yugi must collect star chips by defeating his opponents to reach the final. 

Dragon Ball Z

This animation series follows the adventures of Goku, who, along with the Z Warriors, defends the Earth against evil.

Sonic X (2003)

Similar to Pokémon, this series is adapted from a video game series, and this one was re-edited for younger audiences. Here, audiences follow the story of Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends after an explosion sends them to the human world.

Sonic is rescued by a 12-year-old called Chris, and together they must face Dr. Eggman, Sonic’s nemesis, stopping him from taking over the world.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers (2007)

This fantasy animated series has some impressive battle elements. The story surrounds Dan and his friends, who designed a game to play from mysterious cards and sphere-like creatures named Bakugan that one day fell from the sky. They all have to team up to face the threats from Vestroia. 

Teen Titans (2003)

In this adventure animation series, audiences follow the Teen Titans protecting Earth. Leading the team is Robin, who is also known as Batman’s sidekick. With no special powers, he and his team use their unique abilities to fight a new generation of villains. This is one for the superhero fans, helping save humanity. 

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Michelangelo, Rafael, Donatello, and Leonardo are four mutant heroes who live in the sewers of New York City and train in martial arts to help protect their city from crime. With quirky, fun characters, this series shares similar themes to Pokémon and has some pretty good fight scenes. 

Beyblade (2001)

Beyblade is an animated series based on Takao Aoki’s manga series and has impressive battle scenes. Beyblade follows the journey of Tyson and his friends Kai, Max, Ray, and Kenny, who strive to be the best Beyblade users in the world.

Digimon Adventure (1999)

This family-friendly series sees a group of seven children who are transported into the digital world by Digicives that appeared to them at summer camp. They befriend several Digimon (Digital Monsters) who can Digivolve into strong forms.

In this digital world, the children must fight against several monsters with their new Digi companions. 

Monster Rancher (1999)

Monster Rancher follows the story of Genki, a boy who loves to play video games. One day, Genki is pulled into a world of virtual monsters, and he must battle the forces of evil. HE befriends a girl named Holly and her monster companion Suezo, who help him find the legendary stone disk. 

Mix Master (2005)

This show is a South Korean–Japanese anime series that is based on the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Mix Master: King of Cards.

The story surrounds an unlikely hero called Ditt, who is tasked with saving his town Gamebridge, after a portal from the video game Mix Master’s fictional world of Atreia opens. Creatures of the game known as Hench invade Gamebridge, and the battle for the town begins.
