Summary
An episode with plenty of exciting highs and lows reminiscent of earlier parts of the season.
We recap the Crunchyroll anime series Masamune-kun’s Revenge R Season 2 Episode 9, “Saint Valentine is Watching,” which contains spoilers.
With each passing week, things between Masamune (voiced by Natsuki Hanae) and Aki (voiced by Ayaka Ohashi) only grow more awkward as they continue avoiding each other.
Masamune is still unaware that Aki saw his notebook, making it harder for her to address the subject of the revenge plot.
Meanwhile, Masamune is struggling to figure out his feelings for Yoshino (voiced Inori Minase). It’s all a huge mess that only threatens to worsen if everyone keeps tiptoeing around what they need to say.
Masamune-kun’s Revenge R Season 2 Episode 9 Recap
The episode opens with Masamune still confused after he dreamed about Yoshino. When he arrives at class, he notices that women surround Kojuro and wonders what’s happening.
Why are so many girls flocking to Kojuro?
When Masamune wonders why the girls of their class are flocking to Kojuro, Fujinomiya informs him it is because of the rumor that his sweetness can cure any girl of their troubles.
With Valentine’s Day coming up soon, the girls are seeking his advice on things like gifts and pastries.
What does Aki give Masamune for Valentine’s Day?
When she struggles with making chocolates, Aki ends up making Masamune homemade cookies for Valentine’s Day.
She almost doesn’t give them to him when she sees how many gifts he’s already received, but he assures they are what he really wants.
What does Fujinomiya ask from Aki?
Fujinomiya asks Aki to break up with Masamune. She says that Aki is causing Masamune nothing but pain as he has been trying to move on from her for years.
Masamune-kun’s Revenge R Season 2 Episode 9 Ending Explained
Aki refuses to break up with him but admits that she knows she is hurting Masamune after reading his revenge plan. However, Aki admits she is in love with Masamune at this point and has been for a while.
Aki says she has no plans to give up even though things seem hard now. As she leaves, Fujinmoya finds that Kojuro overheard her and Aki.
Episode nine felt much more exciting this time, like things were at the beginning of the season. The plot appears to be picking back up, with the characters driving the action again instead of watching things happen around them.
I will say the direction of the story in these last few episodes has been the most surprising. I did not see this petty Fujinomiya arc coming. While it wasn’t my favorite choice for her character development, it did add an interesting layer of drama to the series.
At this point, I feel like a triangle between Yoshino, Aki, and Masamune would make more sense, but the feelings on that still have yet to be confirmed.
