We discuss whether there will be a Season 2 of the Netflix documentary series Wrestlers and its renewed or canceled status.
Ohio Valley Wrestling, a company in Louisville, Kentucky, was the focus of the Netflix docuseries Wrestlers, which was brought to you by the team that created Last Chance U and Cheer.
Co-owner of Ohio Valley Wrestling Matt Jones told fellow co-owner and head trainer Al Snow that they are bleeding money at a rapid pace. As a result, he takes the company on a summer tour, informing them that if they don’t make some money, the company is in jeopardy of shutting down.
Throughout the journey of Wrestlers, we meet a wide range of aspiring professional wrestlers who are hoping that they can chase the dream of getting that big contract from the WWE or AEW.

Of course, each of these men and women has made sacrifices in their home lives to chase that dream, and we see that unfold. As you see with series like Last Chance U or Cheer, you watch men and women trying their best to overcome these odds.
It gives you this rooting interest when watching the series.
The seven-episode docuseries might overstay its welcome and struggle with the uneven storytelling, but what it does right is highlight the art of professional wrestling.
The sport is often misunderstood with so many ideas of it not hurting or it being fake, and what Wrestlers delivers is highlighting those lies along with the wear and tear on these men’s and women’s minds and bodies.
Will there be a Wrestlers Season 2 on Netflix?

At the time of writing, Netflix have not renewed Wrestlers for a second season.
Although Wrestlers doesn’t have enough reviews to give it a rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the critics that have reviewed the series have been heavy on the positive side. How audiences react to the show will be vital in seeing another season. One thing to be on the lookout for is if it makes Netflix’s Top 10 and, if it does, how long it stays in it. I’d also look at the fact that this series probably didn’t cost Netflix a ton of money to produce. These wrestling shows were already happening, so they were adding a camera crew to the fold and the cost efficiency could lean heavily on a renewal.
The next question is, where could a second season of Wrestlers go? The easy answer is to find another wrestling promotion to follow. There are many great independent wrestling promotions that Wrestlers could follow. Personally, Game Changing Wrestling (GCW) is one that I believe could make for a great second season. It’s easily that next tier below AEW and WWE and could be one of the more exciting shows to get an even stronger insight into the world of wrestling.
