Kevon Lamar Watkins and his family lived a happy life together in the city of Macon in the state of Georgia. While they might have squabbled and argued like all families do, they were able to live together under one roof happily. But that changed on February 2, 2018, when an argument got so out of hand that Kevon ended up murdering his older sister over the WiFi connection in their household. We investigate and detail where Kevon is now.

He was found guilty of murder by a judge and was later sentenced to life in prison. Kevon appeared to show remorse for his actions when Superior Court Judge Verda Colvin gave him his sentence, bursting into tears and apologizing in front of the court.

Who is Kevon Watkins, and what did he do?

Kevon Lamar Watkins was a teenager from a city in Georgia, USA. He used to play with his friends on his Xbox with online games, which unfortunately led to an argument between his family and then the death of his sister.

Back in February 2018, an argument over the family’s internet connection led Kevon Watkins to commit murder. When he was only 16 years old, he changed the WiFi password in his family home to prevent anyone else from using the internet, as he claimed that this was causing the internet to slow down games on his Xbox.

When his mother found out, she went to his room and attempted to remove Kevon’s console from him. His 19-year-old sister, Alexus Breanna Watkins, followed her as she feared that Kevon might violently attack his mother. Kevon instead attacked his sister and put her in a chokehold for at least 10 minutes. When his mother couldn’t separate the pair, the police were called.

Kevon only let go of his sister when the police arrived at their home and ordered him to do so. Kevon’s 13-year-old brother brother called him “crazy.” Police deputies performed CPR on Alexus at the scene and then rushed her to the hospital. However, she was pronounced dead. The cause of her death was asphyxiation. Alexus was engaged at the time of her death. She also had a son, who was three years old at the time.

Where is Kevon Watkins now?

Kevon Watkins is currently in prison, where he will remain for the rest of his life.

His sentence means that he will never be allowed into the outside world.

What was Kevon Watkins’ sentence?

Kevon decided to waive his right to a jury trial and instead had Judge Verda Colvin at Bibb County decide whether or not he was guilty. The judge found him guilty of felony murder. Judge Verda Colvin explained that she had found Kevon guilty of felony murder instead of voluntary manslaughter because his little brother had attempted to get him to stop choking their sister.

Due to this, Kevon was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole in August 2019, when he was 18 years old. This means he will be kept in prison for the rest of his life and won’t ever be released. When his sentence was handed down by Judge Verda Colvin, Kevon and his family broke down in tears. Kevon was given a chance to speak before being led away from the courtroom, but he could only manage to say “I’m sorry” through his tears.
