Everything Now is Netflix’s teen drama, but instead of focusing on sex like Sex Education (though there is plenty of that), it explores the impact of eating disorders, especially on Mia, played by Sophie Wilde — she has just got out of rehab, only to discover her friends like Cam have had the time of their lives partying, drinking, and exploring their first sexual encounters.
This gives Mia a serious case of FOMO, so she creates a “F*ck It Bucket,” a kind of bucket list of teenage milestones she wants to tick off with her friends.
Cam is a central part of the show, as the archetypal high school dude, sporty, overly flirty, horny, and generally the poster child for toxic masculinity. But as the show progresses, he begins to open up and become more vulnerable.
Everything Now’s Cam Character Explained
Cameron, otherwise known as Cam, is played by Harry Cadby and is one of Mia’s closest friends. He can be a selfish guy and is the embodiment of toxic masculinity. He’s got the reputation of a sporty horndog, DMing his latest crush over social media, working out, and playing football. But he opens up throughout the season.
Audiences quickly learn that despite Mia and Cam’s friendship, just before Mia went into hospital, the pair fell out. It’s revealed that Cam played a role in getting Mia sent for treatment for her eating disorder, which is what led to the two butting heads.
Their relationship takes a turn for the worse later on when Cam walks in on Mia and Cam’s girlfriend, Carli, having a sneaky kiss and then betrays her by telling her girlfriend, Alison.
The final episode deals with the fallout of this, and by the end of the season, it’s resolved. Cam is dealing with his own issues with Becca, as he confesses his crush for her. Becca says she ditched her boyfriend because of this, and while the two don’t end the season together, they do exchange hopeful looks, hinting at a potential romance in the future.
This will surely be complicated when Becca learns that Cam has hooked up with Alison just after Cam revealed he liked Becca.
