While still entertaining on its own, this episode also manages to set up the next series of fights, maintaining excitement and interest.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is one of the few Crunchyroll shows to continue into the fall, and while other series are just starting, this one is only getting more intense every week — writing a recap for episode 12 was, well, interesting.
Yuji, Megumi, and Ino got involved with some formidable foes outside the curtain, but while the first years defeated Jiro, Ino’s battle against a resurrected Toji is only just beginning. There’s a chance Megumi and Yuji may be able to get to Ino in time to help, but if not, episode 12 of Jujutsu Kaisen may feature yet another young sorcerer passing far too soon.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 12 Recap and Breakdown
The episode opens with Nanami locating Ijichi’s body. He appears limp and covered in blood.
Yuji and Megumi lift the veil keeping sorcerers out of Shibuya station. This means there are two veils left: the one trapping Gojo and the one trapping civilians inside. Suddenly, Ino is thrown from Shibuya Tower, and Yuji catches him.
Despite being deceased, Toji’s soul manages to reclaim his body from Ogami’s grandson. Although she claims to make sure only to channel a body’s information and never its soul, Toji concludes that because his body is special, it was able to overpower the soul of Ogami’s grandson.
Concluding that Ino is too injured to fight, Megumi takes him outside the veil while Yuji stays behind.
Nobara and Akari encounter Haruta on their search for Ijichi. As Nobara fights Haruta, Akari attempts to escape and attracts the attention of Haruta’s hand-shaped cursed tool while running through the station.
As they struggle against Haruta, Nanami appears. They begin fighting, but realizing he’s outmatched, Haruta quickly attempts to flee.

When Haruta won’t answer his questions, Nanami punches him hard enough to crush the wall behind them. He then asks if Haruta attacked Ijichi before hitting him through the station.
Mei Mei and her brother run into Geto in the subway tunnels. As she prepares to fight him, he summons the Smallpox Curse, and the curse immediately releases a domain expansion.
As he runs through an empty station, Yuji runs into Choso.
Now that Jujutsu Kaisen is getting deeper into the Shibuya Incident arc, it seems there’s a new fight or foe in every episode. Despite this, it still feels like there’s good balance and transitions between battles.
I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see more of Ino and Toji’s fight. Seeing him almost felt like a bit of a tease, so hopefully, his character is more involved in this arc down the line, or bringing him back will feel like a waste.
Overall, it felt like this episode was meant to conclude the last round of major fights while ushering in the next set, and it did a good job of that. Considering how fast things are moving, the series remains coherent between significant events.
