John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams Season 1 Episode 2 Recap
The episode begins by telling us it is based on a true story.
We watch a man step outside his house and open the box left on his steps. As he begins to open, he freaks out and sees a severed head inside the box.
Rick MacLean and David Cadogan were two members of the Miramichi County community. David was the publisher of the local paper, which he built from the ground up. Rick was the reporter David had hired to work for the paper.
Who was murdered in “A Killer Comes Home”?
One day at the office, the paper got a call of an apparent murder. Rick headed over to check out what went down. Upon his arrival, he spoke to a detective who told him that John Glendinning was the victim of a botched robbery.
After the news broke that the murder had happened, the town was scared because this didn’t happen in the community often. However, quickly after the murder occurred, the cops were able to hone in on one guy.
Who murdered John Glendinning?
The police were looking at Allan Legere, who had a history of trouble within the county. He was such an opposing presence that most of the town was terrified of him. Quickly after locking in on Legere, he was arrested for the murder of John Glendinning.
After his arrest, Allan Legere went to court where the jury found him guilty of murder. Legere would get life in prison due to second-degree murder, and the entire town felt a massive sigh of relief. However, a mere three years later Legere broke out of prison, leading everyone in the town to freak out.
Legere didn’t stay hidden after breaking out but went on a criminal rampage. In the months between his escape on May 3rd and his recapture on November 24th, Legere committed arson, sexual assault, and murdered four people.
John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams Episode 2 Ending Explained
After his recapturing, Legere was charged with four more counts of murder, but first-degree murder. His opportunity for parole shifted from 18 years to 25 years. Although they caught Legere, the city had always had the fear in the back of their minds that he would escape and wreak havoc on the town again.
Even after his arrest, Legere sent a letter to Rick MacLean’s house. His wife read the letter, and Legere detailed where MacLean lived, even knowing he had a little girl. Later at his parole hearing, Legere had mentioned MacLean by name several times. MacLean said he was awaiting the day he could read a headline of a paper that said “Allan Legere Dead.”
