Neon, an eight-episode Netflix original series, follows the story of a young reggaeton musician trying to secure a record deal. Santi, alongside his two friends/team heads to Miami, hoping to get Santi a deal and put him on the map. Various ups and downs ensue, and the Season 1 ending leaves things very much open for a continuation. Neon Season 2 might not be confirmed yet, but if the show ends up being renewed, what might the next leg of the journey look like?
The record industry is a cutthroat world, and show creator Shea Serrano depicts this in eight thirty-minute episodes where we follow Santi overcoming many obstacles, including his own self, in chasing this elusive dream. Santi is played by Tyler Dean Flores and stars alongside Emma Ferreira, Jordan Mendoza, and Courtney Taylor.
Neon reminded me of its fellow Netflix Original series from earlier in 2023, Survival of the Thickest, in how it exposes the highs and lows of trying to make it within a specific industry.
As a result of Serrano’s want to push the envelope, it creates some fantastic drama within the characters. Along with that drama, Serrano and the team never forgot to highlight the music industry with the Grammy Award-winning group Tainy & One Six delivering some great original music for the series.
Will there be a Neon Season 2 on Netflix?

At the time of writing Neon has not been renewed for a second season.
The first 28 days of a show on streaming platforms is the key to getting that second season renewal. Neon will have to collect many watch minutes along with staying in that key top 10 mark on Netflix’s TV area for the streaming giant to consider a renewal.
With WGA and studios coming to an agreement, the writing process if the series does get renewed for a second season could begin. However, the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike could hinder any production for the series. Currently, if a deal is struck and the series is renewed, we could see a Season 2 of Neon at the end of 2024 or early 2025.
What could Season 2 be about?
If renewed, Neon has plenty of options to tackle with a second season. Without divulging spoilers, our fearless trio landed in Miami in hopes of getting Santi that big record contract. Of course, Miami had some other plans, leading to them dealing with a drug-dealing mad woman, an assistant who wasn’t who she said she was, and a star that caused trouble for the trio’s friendship.
With a second season, we can follow Santi’s next steps in his career in the aftermath of the Season 1 ending. On the flip side, Ness and Felix saw huge steps in their careers outside of Santi that could play a huge part in pivotal storylines in a second season. Mix all that together, throwing in new drama and killer beats, and Season 2 should have no issues being as good as the first.
Our official prediction is that Neon will be renewed for Season 2. We’ll keep this page up to date with the latest information as we get it.
