The 2023 Netflix documentary Vjeran Tomic: The Spider-Man of Paris is a fascinating look at an incredible art heist that took place in Paris, and the man responsible for it. Vjeran Tomic pulled off the greatest art theft in history using skills such as parkour that he had practiced and refined as a young man. At the height of his notoriety, he would meet Korine Opiola, and the two would strike up a relationship, but Vjeran would find himself in serious trouble after the theft of five paintings and knew it was only a matter of time before he would have to reveal to his new partner exactly what was going on.

Korine Opiola – The Girlfriend of Real-Life Spider-Man Vjeran Tomic
Born in 1963, Korine was well-traveled, and on an eventful night in Paris, she met the villain, dubbed “The Real Spider-Man”, when he approached her about the magazine she just happened to be reading.
The material Korine was perusing featured articles on UFO and it piqued Vjeran’s interest, offering him a way to strike up a conversation with the woman.
After their initial meeting, they would stay in touch, but Korine was not aware of Vjeran’s criminal activities. With Vjeran’s trial approaching, he made the decision to come clean with Korine and told her what had been happening with his life.
The two had been communicating on Facebook, and it was there he revealed what was happening.
Obviously, there would have been a moment of shock when the truth was revealed. Korine would say, “I was thinking what a crazy story”, but Korine seemed to be supportive of Vjeran, and stated she was interested in finding out what the real story was behind the man she had only recently met.

Korine lives in Bievres and owns a studio in Paris. She has three children and has a passion for reading, cooking, music, arts, movies and travel.
Vjeran has been dabbling in art himself, practicing his linework while he is imprisoned, and expressing a desire to create works of artistic merit for himself. There is a suggestion that the studio Korine owns may be the venue for an exhibition of Vjeran’s work when he is released, and who would not want to go to see the artwork of a master art thief?
Korine decided to pursue a relationship with Tomic, eager to find out where he had been sent and make the effort to see him again. The two hadn’t met since their initial encounter in the cafe where she had been reading.
While imprisoned she would arrange a visit to see him, and they became regular, leading to a romance between the two.
In 2022 during a parole visit, she would be waiting for Tomic, and they would visit the beach together.
