Disney+ series Behind the Attraction has provided insights into some of the more iconic rides and attractions from their theme parks across its first two seasons, but can fans look forward to Season 3? At the time of writing, there is no news either way, but showrunner Hiram Garcia has implied that there might be more to come.

Has Behind the Attraction been renewed for Season 3?

At the time of writing there is no official word from Disney about a third season, but the showrunner behind the series (and close friend of Dwayne Johnson), Hiram Garcia, has implied that there are plans for more to come. An interview with conducted by Collider with Hiram Garcia led to the producer saying, “We 100% have plans to do more storytelling in that space.”

Johnson’s production company Seven Bucks, is behind the show, which was created by Brian Volk-Weiss.

Notably, Johnson’s franchise vehicle Jungle Cruise was also based on a Disney attraction.

When will Season 3 of Behind the Attraction be released?

Since at the time of writing a third season has not yet been confirmed, there is no official release date for Behind the Attraction Season 3. However, should the show be greenlit, a new season could quite easily be ready for early 2024.

The production company seems to be working very closely with Disney, and with so much stock and archived footage available, if the show is green-lit quickly, we could see Season 3 drop perhaps as soon as the Spring of 2024.

With Disney always eager to promote their parks, it would make sense to get the series out as quickly as possible in the new year, as it would act as an advert for the company too.

With recent financial reports noting that Disney stock is currently at its lowest point in nine years, the company will be firing on all cylinders to promote itself as much as possible. A new series showcasing the best of their theme parks would be an easy way to get some more positive attention.

What Disney attractions were shown in Season 2?

The subjects covered in Season 2 of the show were Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Indiana Jones Adventure, EPCOT, The Food, and Night Time Spectaculars.

At a glance, you can already see that there is a close relationship between Disney’s parks and attractions and some of its most popular films. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was inspired by its namesake attraction, and the reverse is true of Indiana Jones Adventure, which is based on the Steven Spielberg character Indiana Jones and his various movies (the latest of which is Dial of Destiny).

EPCOT isn’t related to a film franchise but is named after the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, a faintly terrifying and thankfully unfinished project to create a utopian autocratic company town on a swath of undeveloped land near Orlando.

What could feature in Season 3 of Behind the Attraction?

Although the first two seasons have included many of the most iconic Disney attractions, there are still plenty more that the series could explore.

Disney still has the film version of Tower of Terror in production, so they feel that there is plenty of mileage in bringing more of the attractions to the silver screen. Season 3 would no doubt cover the rides that they feel are most popular.

People are still very interested in the behind-the-scenes footage of the parks, and there is no doubt plenty of content is available to fill another season. We could speculate about what episodes will be filmed next, but it’s hard to second-guess what the next season will bring. We will of course keep you updated on any news that drops.
