Summary
While Darby unpacks what is really happening in the resort, “Family Secrets” fails to deliver anything more than a filler episode. With only three episodes left, the show’s pacing needs to pick up.
Darby’s mission to find out who killed Bill and Rohan continues in Episode 4 of the FX series A Murder at the End of the World. Sian decides to help Darby on her mission to find the truth. However, the mission goes south along the way, leading to an almost near-death experience. The pacing of Season 1 really needs to pick up at this point, though, as “Family Secrets” feels a little uncomfortably close to a filler episode.
This, coming after a third episode that seemed as though it was really upping the twists and turns, is a little disappointing.

How did Rohan die?
The guests gather in a room to discuss how Rohan passed away. They conclude that Rohan had died of heart failure, but Darby believes that someone messed with his pacemaker. Todd walks into the room to inform them that paramedics believe Rohan died of a heart attack.
Todd explains that as a result of the storm, the cops are unable to make it to the resort. Because of this, Andy wants everyone to stay locked in their rooms until things are resolved. They are taking everyone’s electronics and will bring everyone their food.
Sian doesn’t love the lockdown, so she heads to Darby’s room to talk to her about the killer. She says she will help her get to Rohan’s body because she knows all the secret places in the building. The trek leads them to find Rohan’s ship, which contains small boats to ferry people from bigger boats. They go to investigate, but a snowstorm hits, forcing them to leave.
What does Sian reveal to Darby about Andy?
On the drive back to the resort, Sian reveals that the Ronson Industries coffers are dry, and the funding for his space program has been completely dry. Andy made Sian the face of an empty PR campaign. Sian doesn’t think he is sending anyone to space and has been funneling funds for something else.
As she tells her this, the duo gets into a massive car accident. After dreaming she was with Bill, Darby awakens to Sian dragging her across the snow to get her back to the resort. We see Darby awaken, and the doctors are working on her. With Darby being worked on, we realize that Sian’s suit helmet isn’t coming off, and everyone is worried because the air is running out.
This results in an emergency tracheotomy on Sian with them having to slice her neck to get her to breathe again. With Darby looking on, she passes out as it happens.
How does A Murder at the End of the World Season 1 Episode 4 end?
Darby is awakened by Lee Anderson, who tells her that Sian is okay. Zoomer is playing pretend doctor on Darby as she begins to get her bearings. Darby gets up and opens the curtains, but as she does the light makes Zoomer sneeze. Zoomer explains why he sneezed (the light and his disease). It confirmed Darby’s suspicion that Lee and Bill were having an affair.
