Summary

Obliterated is an action-packed wild ride that delivers the goods. It’s easily the most fun I’ve had with a series this year.

An action dramedy set in the high-stakes world of Las Vegas is bound to set the world on fire. The trio behind the Cobra Kai revival, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, are behind the eight-episode Netflix series Obliterated

The show pulls out all the stops, setting the stage with sex, drugs, and plenty of alcohol as we watch U.S. armed forces go undercover to try and take down a terrorist group threatening the biggest party city in the United States.

Obliterated Season 1 review and plot summary

Obliterated follows an elite team tracking a deadly terrorist group that is planning to blow up Las Vegas.

We first meet our group of armed forces working undercover on a Las Vegas rooftop when things get twisted really fast. They find out an exchange for a giant bomb is about to take place. This leads to a massive shootout in a penthouse, but the team comes together to take down the bad guy and defuse the bomb.

The team decides to live it up in Las Vegas after completing the mission. A wild night of drugs and sex keeps the party going all night. However, the crew back at headquarters take a look at the bomb they defused and realize it isn’t the “big” bomb they thought, and that one’s still out in the world.

Obliterated reminded me of the Expendables in series form. I don’t mean that as a bad thing either. The biggest thing that makes this stand out is the addition of it being heavily R-rated, especially within the party and sex appeal. The raunchiness added some of the funniest one-liners you will see all year.

Each member of the cast brought something unique to the table. Shelley Henning was the perfect leader as Ava, Chad McKnight was the good-looking badass, Kimi Rutledge was our tech nerd, but Terrence Terrell as Trunk had me laughing my ass off on many occasions.

It’s not overly shocking that the team behind the reboot of Cobra Kai delivered some great fight sequences. Within Obliterated, they up the ante with some wild blockbuster-style action that you typically only see on the big screen. I loved how big the series felt, setting it apart from other action shows.

Obliterated is an action-packed, fun ride

My only issue with the series was the amount of episodes. When you get to about the fourth or fifth, you begin to feel a slight repetitiveness in the story. Although the plot never loses sight of the main objective, it should’ve been six episodes tops.

Outside of that, Obliterated is one of the most fun I’ve had all year watching a series. It’s wild, crazy, and over the top and filled with some insane action and hilarious comedic moments. I can’t wait to watch it again. Put this at the top of your binge-watching list.
