Netflix’s monster-infused Korean hit Sweet Home dropped in 2020 to much acclaim from critics and viewers alike. It became a bit of a talking point when it had the distinction of being the first South Korean series to break into the top 10 in the U.S. Sweet Home Season 2 has now dropped on the platform after fans waited three years for the second run to appear. The show has expanded its lore and provided more content for the audience, with new material being written to continue the story now that the source material has been adapted, which means there are all kinds of possibilities for where things might go from here. With Sweet Home Season 3 already confirmed along with a rough release date, what can we expect from the next outing?
Has Sweet Home been renewed for Season 3?
In a move that may have surprised many, Netflix has confirmed that Sweet Home Season 3 is a go and that production on the third outing has already started.
It seems that a decision was made to make seasons two and three back to back, proving that Netflix had every faith in the show, and was committed to making it a success. By making the seasons together, the production company would be able to utilize the sets, costumes, and performers effectively, saving money and time, and making it possible to produce a third season of the show quickly.
Go Min-si, who plays Eun-yu in the show, confirmed on her Instagram that production had wrapped on the second and third seasons after a year of filming:

When is Sweet Home Season 3 expected to be released?
Given the long three-year wait between the first and second seasons, fans were worried that they might have to wait a similar length of time for Season 3. However, in the finale of Season 2, a reassuring title card confirms that the third season will debut in 2024.
At the time of writing, there has been no official release date given for the show. Given that production has already wrapped, it will simply be a case of Netflix biding its time until anticipation has mounted and there’s a suitable slot in the calendar. Speculating on a date, we would suggest a release in the Summer of 2024, but this is speculation at this point.
What can we expect from Sweet Home Season 3?
With the cliffhanger ending of Season 2, we will expect the third season to pick up from the many ongoing storylines that have remained unresolved.
Hyun-su has been fully taken over by his monster side, while Ui-myeong’s true identity has been revealed as Yi-kyung’s fiance, Sang-won. The stadium storylines still remain unresolved, with Ji hiding a monster in her secret room and Tak hiding his own monster identity from everyone else. And, of course, the big development was the last-minute return of Eun-hyeok as a new kind of monster, having emerged from a cocoon in the Green Home wreckage with a big smile on his face.
One imagines that Yi-kyung’s daughter will also have a major role to play in the third season.
It should be noted that this third season of the show will be the last one, so we are hoping that there will be a conclusion to the story that will satisfactorily tie up the plot lines and arcs of the characters.
