The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Episode 10 Recap
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Episode 10
3.5

Summary

An engaging episode that proves Shield Hero is best when focusing on its already-established characters.

After a harrowing multi-episode battle with the Emperor Dragon, Naofumi and his friends finally managed to emerge victorious. They were even able to save both Gaelin’s in the process. Now, in The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Episode 10, they can return to the village and hopefully turn their focus back to training for the Phoenix, as long as another hero doesn’t get in their way first.

It’s been a while since a moment in The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 felt this serious, but something about Malty’s character always brings out the best and worst sides of the heroes.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Episode 10 Recap

The episode opens with Rishia training while reflecting on her time with Itsuki, the Bow Hero. She specifically remembers the day he kicked her out of his party for being weak and once again promises to get stronger before training again.

After breaking up an argument between Filo and Gaelin, Naofumi instructs Filo to train and gain back the levels she lost while cursed inside Gaelin. When she asks Melty to join her, Naofumi gets permission from the Shadows for them to train together and sends them away.

S’yne returns from fighting in the underground arena and speaks of a skilled archer who is said to visit different arenas daily.

Who is Perfect Hidden Justice?

Perfect Hidden Justice is the name used by Itsuki in the underground arena. Noafumi and the others immediately recognize the alias and head to the arena to see Itsuki fight for themselves.

Rishia spots Itsuki and runs after him to talk. However, when she encounters him, he seems angry and strikes her as he passes. Noafumi attempts to speak with Itsuki but quickly learns Malty is manipulating him like the other heroes were.

Ren attempts to convince Itsuki he’s being lied to, but when that doesn’t work, Naofumi’s party attempts to devise a plan to reason with him. While attending Itsuki’s next fight, Naofumi notices there’s something off about his bow.

After seeing Itsuki’s battle, Rishia requests to fight him next, hoping to speak some sense into him.

How does The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Episode 10 end?

Itsuki returns to Malty, giving her all the money he made from fighting. When she fears it isn’t enough to save the children, he promises to earn more with the bow she gifted him. Later, Malty meets with a mysterious man about Itsuki and how they won’t be able to sell him into slavery as planned. Still, she says they can at least squeeze more money out of him if nothing else.

The Slave Trader helps devise a plan to capture Itsuki in a secret underground arena. Itsuki meets Rishia there to fight, and she declares that this time, it is her turn to save him.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed today’s episode. It was gripping, and I could really feel the tension surrounding the Itsuki encounter.

For some reason, it’s felt like they’ve tried to cram a lot into this season in terms of character introductions. I’m glad to see the series returning to its roots and focusing on some of the older characters a bit more.
