Summary
A Murder at the End of the World continues to drag out the whodunnit for far too long, which takes you completely out of the story. Hopefully, the finale can reel everything in to end on a high note.
Darby is still lurking around the resort in the penultimate episode of A Murder at the End of the World. She’s trying to figure out if Bill is alive or dead, and if it’s the latter, who might have killed him. An unlikely alley saves Darby from near death in Episode 6, and the story starts to unpack more about Andy and why those around him are trying to escape him. At this point, though, Season 1 is starting to drag, and it’s up to the finale to stick the landing and make up for some lackluster episodes that have bogged the FX series down.
A Murder at the End of the World Season 1 Episode 6 Recap
Who rescues Darby from the pool?
When we last left Darby in Episode 5, she was swimming in the pool, but we saw the tarp go over it, leaving her trapped. Faced with a life-or-death situation, we see David come to her rescue, saving her life.
Shortly after, we find out that David and Lee are working together as Lee’s been communicating with Darby through the hotel lamps because it’s out of the hotel security’s sight. We discover that Lee has been trying to escape with Zoomer because Andy is abusive and micromanages everything that Zoomer does.
Lee explains she almost escaped once before the retreat. She had set everything in place, including switching cars to pick up Zoomer from school. Upon arriving at the school she was met by Andy, who wasn’t happy. Andy told Lee that she could leave right now, but Zoomer was staying with him, and she stayed.
What clues did Bill leave for Darby?
Finally, Darby and Lee can search Bill’s room for the first time since his death. Darby starts to unpack Bill’s belongings and realizes that on the verge of death, Bill left clues for Darby to find to uncover who his killer was. He left bloody fingerprints inside Darby’s book, and Lee suggested that she read the chapter as it might be a clue.
As she reads the book, it brings A Murder at the End of the World Episode 6 back to the opening moments of the series, where we see Darby and Bill coming face to face with the Silver Doe Killer. The serial killer pointed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger, getting blood all over Bill.
Why did Bill leave Darby?
After the murder, Darby almost seemed deflated at the idea that the killer was lying in front of them dead. Instead of being overjoyed with his death, she was left questioning the why of it all. Bill subtly reminds Darby that killers aren’t remarkable. But her obsession drove Bill to leave the following morning and not look back.
How does A Murder at the End of the World Episode 6 end?
In the present time, Oliver unpacks something that was said in the book that might be a clue. Bill highlighted, “the result of faulty programming,” suggesting that the retreat might have something to do with the AI developments with Andy.
Before diving any deeper, there is a knock at the door, and when Darby opens it she finds a beaten-up David. He is dragged into the room by Todd, who is with Andy, who says, “There is my wife,” as the episode ends.
