Single’s Inferno is a Korean reality dating show on Netflix that presents viewers with a cast of singles who must get together to escape from the home base of Inferno for the more comfortable Paradise, a luxury hotel that the couples arrive at via helicopter for an overnight visit. The steamy show has already enjoyed two seasons, and now fans are overheating at the prospect of a third. However, as is always the case, viewers just can’t shake the feeling that there may be more going on behind the scenes that we aren’t privy to, and that age-old question over the authenticity of the show is still looming. Is Single’s Inferno real or scripted? Let’s get to the bottom of this.
Is Single’s Inferno real or scripted?
Single’s Inferno is the first collaboration between Netflix and South Korean cable network JTBC. The show itself is referenced as a reality production so it should be safe to assume that there is nothing scripted, however, we know from experience that this is not often the case.
When it comes to the whole reality show experience, it is naïve to think that the production is not in some way manipulated, and a lot can be achieved in the editing room. But just how far does that kind of manipulation go? As far as the actual show that is screened, we know that from the many, many hours of footage recorded, only the highlights and the most pertinent scenes are used, and they are edited together in a way to best present the narrative to the audience. However, does that mean the show is fake?
We like to think that the reactions from the cast and the panel are generally spontaneous and not rehearsed. Of course, the games and interactions that the contestants must take part in are there to help drive the show forward, but it is safe to say that these games are not rigged, and the outcome is not predetermined.

Of course, there will always be an argument that the situations that the players find themselves in have been strategically arranged to highlight some of the characteristics and personality traits of those involved, but this still does not infer that the show is fake. So, if it is of any merit, we would say that Single’s Inferno is not scripted.
However, there is some evidence to the contrary:

What are the rules of Single’s Inferno Season 3?
Single’s Inferno has received a bit of a makeover for Season 3.
A report in the Korea Times revealed that at a press conference for the show, producer Kim Jae-won stated that the third season of the dating show will be the most interesting one of all. Season 3 will feature a second Inferno Island, with the inhabitants of each island having to mix.
In the first season, Paradise took place in one of Korea’s luxury resorts, however in the third outing, the couples go to two different locations: a luxury Hyatt resort and a beachside hotel. The new setup means that things will become more complicated for the singles, and that will only mean more drama for viewers.
Who will return to the show for Season 3?
Single’s Inferno Season 3 surprises fans by bringing back its original hosts, and one special guest.
Celebrities and TV personalities Hong Jin-kyung, Lee Da-hee, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, and Hanhae will be in charge of hosting the third season, but there is a surprise in store, as a former player from Season 2 of the show, Dex, will be joining the panel too. The ex-soldier caused a bit of a stir during his time on the show and has become a bit of a celeb ever since, so seeing him back should get fans talking.
