Summary

The Buccaneers season finale is easily one of the best episodes of the year. It’s filled with so much emotion and perfectly displays the bond between the two sisters. The finale only makes you want more.

We are preparing for the “Wedding of the Season” in the season finale of The Buccaneers. The ending of Season 1 revolves around Nan’s impending marriage, with big drama stemming from her doubts potentially causing her to say no at the altar. The alternative is that she sucks it up with the hope things will get better. Episode 8 is packed with drama, making for one of the better individual episodes of television of the entire year.

The Duchess of Tintagel talks to Nan ahead of the wedding saying she isn’t to make her son a laughing stock by making a fool of him at the altar. She gave her a chance to get out, and she stayed, so she must suck it up and marry her son.

This conversation was followed by Nan and Theo sitting down to discuss whether or not she wanted to marry him. Theo again asks if she is in love with Guy, and she claims not to be. However, she is pretty silent when he asks if she wants to marry him. He says she has until the morning to inform him of her decision as he will not walk the aisle with any doubts.

Guy sneaks into Nan’s bedroom to inform her that he broke up with Lady Hopeleigh because it wasn’t fair to her to be with her. He explains that he is madly in love with her. The two kiss. Guy asks her to run away with him, and she says yes to everything.

What happens with Lord Seadown and Jinny?

Nan walks into the bathroom and runs into her sister, Jinny. Nan explains she will wait in the stalls until she leaves. Jinny apologizes again, but Nan says she doesn’t want to hear it. Jinny informs Nan that she is moving to Scotland for good, but Nan asks what difference it will make as she is already far away.

Later, we discover that Jinny is pregnant and has been keeping it from her husband. Upon finding out, Lord Seadown confronts her and asks why she’s been lying so much and if the baby is his. He smacks her and she apologizes to him for lying.

Jinny runs to talk to Nan while Lord Seadown is sleeping and informs her of what he has been doing. They try to run, but he catches them trying to escape. She states they have reunited, and he says “good” but makes her come upstairs.

What’s next for Lord Richard and Conchita?

Lord Richard informs his mother that he plans to separate himself from the family. He will no longer seek any money from the family, and he and Conchita will raise their family of their own accord.

Lord Richard’s mother is blown away by his choices and asks Conchita her thoughts. She says she has never loved her husband any more.

What happens at the wedding?

It’s the wedding day, and we see the ladies sitting outside the venue. After Lord Seadown goes inside, they formulate a plan to have Jinny and Nan run away, and we see Guy arrive in the carriage.

Instead of going with them, Nan sacrifices herself by marrying Theo and becoming a Duchess to protect Jinny and her baby.

How does The Buccaneers Season 1 end?

As we are introduced to the new Duchess of Tintagel, Colonel St. George runs to tell his wife that Nan’s mother has arrived at the castle as the season ends.

Quite the cliffhanger. Season 2, anyone?
