Dalston is located in Hackney and is about four miles northeast of Charing Cross. The area was once a hamlet situated adjacent to Dalston Lane, and as the area was urbanized, it eventually became known as Dalston. Another part of Hackney that filming took place in, was Kingsland, also part of Hackney.
Shoreditch High Street, London
Eagle-eyed location spotters will notice this particular high street in London, part of the A10 road, that connects Norton Folgate to Kingsland Road. St Leonard’s Church can be seen here, at the crossroads where it joins with Hackney Road. Tod Productions and STV Studios are named as the production companies on the series, and the named executive producers are Elaine Collins, creator Paul Rutman, and the two leads in the series, Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, are also checked in the credits. It is worth noting that Elaine Collins is the real-life wife of Peter Capaldi, and this is his first time playing a policeman, although he is familiar with police boxes.
