A Killer Paradox Season 2: Renewal Status & Latest

A Killer Paradox hasn’t been renewed for Season 2 yet, and given how few K-Dramas receive the coveted renewal status on Netflix, there’s a good chance it might never be. However, given the source material, an open ending, and positive word of mouth surrounding the show, stranger things have happened.

Has Netflix renewed A Killer Paradox for Season 2?

At the time of writing (February 12, 2024), there has been no news from Netflix or the team behind the show about Season 2. A Killer Paradox has not yet been officially renewed.

However, it’s worth noting that the end of the first season does leave things on a bit of a cliffhanger, so that suggests that the showrunners were hopeful of returning to the characters. Having said that, though, it might have just been some fun ambiguity for the audience to enjoy. Time will tell.

How have critics and audiences reacted to A Killer Paradox?

Currently A Killer Paradox has an impressive 7.4/10 on IMDb with reviewers calling the show “extremely entertaining” and praising the attention to detail. Meaww feels that the show “explores morality and justice with outstanding performances”. Outlook India was also on board with the show saying, A Killer Paradox is 100% a great weekend binge, especially if you are someone who enjoys action-packed thrillers.”

In our review, we gave the show three stars out of five, citing its style as a highlight but its lack of real substance as a major downside.

Fans on X, formerly Twitter, were especially complementary of the cast:

About Son Suk-ku, who plays Detective Jang Nan-gam, user @swblekpearl said:

Instead of showing the tears, screaming, shouting, he shows realistic acting from all his body and detailed expression without saying any words.

There were also comprehensive discussions on Reddit, though note that there are spoilers here for the entire season if you’re worried about such things. User Telos07 provided a solid breakdown of the premiere’s stylistic qualities:

What could A Killer Paradox Season 2 be about?

There is no doubt that if a second season of the gripping show is greenlit, it will continue to follow and explore Lee Tang’s life as a self-styled vigilante, especially now that he has returned to Korea after learning there is no evidence against him for anything he did during the first season.

The Season 1 finale implied that Lee Tang had embraced his role of killing people who “deserve” it, which he has an uncanny ability to identify. Despite Nan-gam’s own vengeful actions in the finale too, a good hook would be to continue the cat-and-mouse chase between the two, especially since they hardly ended Season 1 as the best of friends.

5 Similar Dramas to A Killer Paradox

The chase is on between our two leads in the series. Here are five other cat-and-mouse style shows you might enjoy.

The Fall (2013)

Gillian Anderson plays a stony and determined police officer on the trail of a terrifyingly charismatic serial killer in the incredibly popular TV series that lasted three seasons. Jamie Dornan is the Irish killer on the loose.

Tell Me What You Saw (2020)

In this psychological thriller created by Kim Hong-sun, we follow renowned criminal profiler Oh Hyun-jae played by Jang Hyuk, who teams up with a fresh-faced new detective to solve a series of puzzling serial murders.

Through the Darkness (2022)

This look at the genre is inspired by real stories from the reports of Kwon Il-yong, Korea’s inaugural criminal profiler. With a focus on the emotional toll that the job can take on investigators, the series is made more harrowing when we know that it’s based on reality.

Dexter (2002)

When you think of the serial killer on TV, you no doubt will eventually land on the long-running series Dexter. The show was created by James Manos Jr. and is based on Jeff Lindsay’s novels. It follows Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a forensic blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who also happens to be a vigilante serial killer.

Mouse (2021)

Mouse has some similar themes to our featured show and follows Jung Ba-reum (Lee Seung-gi), a morally sound cop tied up with a more hot-headed and highly-strung detective, Go Moo-chi, portrayed by Lee Hee-joon. Of course, there is also a psychopathic killer to contend with putting this in the same category as A Killer Paradox.
