House of Ninjas debuted on Netflix on February 15, 2024, so it’s a little early for the streaming platform to have made any decisions about a potential Season 2. However, early signs around the series, which blends stunning action set-pieces with some pretty dense lore and family drama, are quite positive.
Has Netflix renewed House of Ninjas for Season 2?
At the time of writing, there has not been official confirmation of a Season 2 renewal or the announcement of any plans for one. However, House of Ninjas only debuted its first season recently, and data will need to be analyzed for Netflix to determine if there’s any mileage in the IP.
How has the series performed so far?
IMDb has House of Ninjas rated at an encouraging 7.3/10 with some reviewers praising the action, but also noticing the pacing may not be for everyone. One criticism that did seem to recur was the soundtrack, with some saying that the music was so intrusive that it nearly spoiled the show.
Decider encourages their readers to watch the show and states: “We want to see more of the Tawara fam fighting together against their mysterious new adversaries.” Heaven of Horror seemed to enjoy the series, saying, “Overall, the very character-driven storyline of this series has a lot more heart than I ever dared expect.”
Tech Radar feels the show could be the new Cobra Kai, while Screen Anarchy enjoyed the way “the plot points are dropped smoothly and steadily into a marvelous mix of stealthy ninja action, family drama, and gentle comedy.”
Viewers on X, formerly Twitter, seemed to enjoy the show, especially its family dynamics, and some are already pushing for a second season:

What could Season 2 be about?
The intrigue that comes from the character dynamics in House of Ninjas would no doubt be a focus of a second series, and after Season 1, there would have to be issues from the Tawara family’s betrayal from Gaku.
Karen and Haru’s relationship would also no doubt become a plot point that would have to be further explored and resolved, and we imagine that the agency would have to look at how their operations would move forward now that Fuma is in the top spot. Whatever happens, the writing team will no doubt have a pitch ready in the hope that the show gets a green light soon.
Who created House of Ninjas?
The showrunner of House of Ninjas is Dave Boyle, and if you recognize the name it may be from some previous movies he has worked on including Man from Reno, Surrogate Valentine, and Daylight Savings. Dave also worked on an episode of the anthology series Dimension 404, and as well as writing and directing, he is also a producer.
What is a Shinobi?
Shinobi is really just another word for ninja, and it is a recurring theme throughout the series that you should refer to them as shinobi and not ninjas. However, the terms mean pretty much the same thing. Ninja is more informal, though, while shinobi has a deeper significance to the Japanese language and culture.
