Summary
Constellation begins on an odd journey that attempts to juggle two slightly foggy stories that don’t balance well together. While not off to a promising start, the space sequences alone are fantastic.
In Episode 1 of Constellation Season 1, Jo and her team are on board the International Space Station when something explodes. While everything unravels, Jo and her team must deal with faulty wires, a possible death, and an escape to help save lives. On land, Commander Henry is searching for answers on how his Data Core tested amid the chaos.
Who dies in “The Wounded Angel?”
Jo is on board the International Space Station when her daughter calls to talk to her about their day. In the middle of the call, Paul is working on setting up a project that blows up, causing a piece of the ship to penetrate his arm and pin him against the wall. Even after amputating his arm, ultimately, Paul dies.
The station is in shambles, and Jo and her team are attempting to get it back up and running, but the damage is irreparable. Commander Henry does not want them to evacuate from the station until they get more information about the project data and equipment on board.
With four people left on the ISS and only room for three people to leave, one must stay behind to recoup what they can on board. Jo decides to be the person to stay back, allowing her crew to head home. We begin to see Jo settling in on board with the help of communication from the station.
Does Jo’s crew make it back safe?
The crew is able to lock into the shuttle with the help of Jo, allowing them to disembark from the spaceship. We follow the shuttle throughout space until it lands on Earth, where the entire crew can land safely on the soil. Upon landing, a team of people await them to get them to the medical fields, as transportation took a toll.
With Jo still on the spaceship, NASA flies Magnus and Alice to the Kazakhstan headquarters to allow her to talk to them, providing some comfort while in space. Jo has 45-minute intervals where she can see the ship and speak to the station, and just when her family arrives, the comms go down, so she is unable to talk to them.
Jo hears a banging noise when everything on the spaceship goes dark. We see her head to investigate the noise, which leads us back to the beginning of the episode, where we saw Jo walking through the snow looking for her daughter, who is screaming “Mama.” Finally, Jo heads back inside and begins to hear this same banging. She opens the closet door, and her daughter Alice is in it, freezing.
