The ending of Code 8: Part II sees Connor Reed (Robbie Amell) and Pav decide to stop running and get justice for Tarak’s (Pav’s younger brother) death by exposing the corrupt police. In the fictional world where people with powers are policed and oppressed, what happens when the police become so corrupt that innocent people are killed? Revenge, retribution, and ruthlessness are the themes explored in the improved sci-fi sequel to Code 8, where the climax is no less satisfying for its predictability.
Code 8: Part II Ending Explained
The aim is to get the robot dog that killed Tarak and release the footage it took the night of his death to show how corrupt King is. However, instead of sharing the footage of Tarak’s death, they use it as leverage in a deal with Sergeant Kingston, aiming to gain control of LCPD. The drama continues, new deals are on the table, and you can’t trust anyone.
About twenty minutes before the end there is a great fight scene between the police and people with powers — the stunts and stylish shooting make this scene a piece of art.
In the final scene, Connor utilizes his electro-kinetic abilities to power up the hard drive within the K9’s head, and Pavani uses her powers to transfer the data from the hard drive to a media camera, exposing King’s criminal activities to the world.
As King emerges attempting to shoot Connor, Garrett jumps in, repaying his debt and seeking retribution. Now King’s crimes are exposed; he’s arrested and convicted for corruption. An investigation is launched into the K9 program, with hopes of exposing more corruption.
How does Code 8: Part II end?
The film jumps to three months later, where Connor has taken control of the late Mina’s community center and re-opens it as a hub for children. We watch him open the doors and children flood in to use the space.
To everyone’s surprise, Pav survives her gunshot wound and joins Connor in helping with the operations of the community center.
On the news, we see how there have been investigations into the K9 unit and the police regarding corruption that lies deeper than anyone expected. The camera turns and we see Garrett in prison, smiling at the TV.
It’s an ending filled with hope but doesn’t close the story completely, so fans might want more from this franchise.
Why does Connor help Pav?
The film doesn’t waste any time introducing these two characters and making them a small team. As Pav survives and flees to the community shelter for help and support, she meets Connor.
Connor takes pity on the young, helpless, vulnerable girl and wants to help. Being fresh out of prison, Connor is looking for a purpose, and he finds it in helping Pav.
It’s almost as if he had no choice, as Pav is being chased, but Connor takes on the challenge to protect her, and then help her get justice.
Garrett wanted to wipe Pav’s memory of the evening her brother died or kill her. When they go to wipe her memories, they try to take all of them, and Pav fights back. When Connor is attacked, they use their powers to escape. Now they both have targets on their backs.
The father-daughter male-female dynamic works as their relationship is relatable and believable. As the film grows we see how they rely and depend on one another, and how their powers complement one another. This leads to a heartfelt, hopeful ending.
Do Connor and Pav survive?
Connor and Pav both survive. Even though both have targets on their back, they manage to flee, survive, and get revenge and justice for Pav’s brother Tarak.
Towards the end, Pav is shot and it’s implied that she dies after the video of her brother’s death is released. It’s a peaceful moment — she can let go now the truth is out.
However, in the end, in the new community center, Pav makes a miraculous return, and she and Connor hug and look to a brighter future together.
What happens to Garrett?
Garrett’s character brings a great dynamic throughout the film, as we see him playing good cop/bad cop throughout and his motives aren’t always clear. He’s a hardcase who keeps audiences on their toes. He’s one of my favourite characters.
Throughout the film, we get glimpses of Garrett’s good and bad side, and we know he’ll come through and save the day towards the end.
Towards the end, Garrett uses his powers to save Connor and Pav, by turning King’s gun on himself whilst the tapes are being played for the world to see.
We get a final shot of Garrett back in prison, watching the news, and smiling at the idea of change happening and his part in this.
