Summary

“Illness of the Trade” is one of the best TV episodes you will see this year. Its incredible buildup leads to an explosive ending that will leave your jaw on the floor.

Samantha and Ohno formulate a plan to help one another in Episode 5 of Tokyo Vice Season 2. With Nakahara’s death being looked at as a suicide, Hiroto and Detective Nagata set their sights on Tozawa as the next person they need to bring down. Sato finally gets Hayama off his brother’s back because of his mistakes with Ota.

This is one of the best episodes of television that you’ll see this year.

We pick up right where we left off in Episode 4, with Jake looking over Nakahara’s body. He calls Eimi to inform her of what happened and tells her that he saw Tozawa entering the building earlier that night. Hiroto and Jake meet to discuss what went down because they are spinning Nakahara’s death as a suicide. They agree to keep one another abreast of any new details surrounding the case.

Who is on Tozawa’s payroll?

Eimi’s friend came through and found out that Baku, her boss, was on Tozawa’s payroll. This means he could potentially have been involved in the burning of the tapes.

Ohno confronts Samantha about why she is digging through his stuff and taking her purse. He looks through and finds the camera on the phone, and she comes clean about what she is doing. Instead of taking her home, he tells her to sleep on the couch. The following morning, Ohno and Samantha devise a plan to help her escape the mess she is in.

Samantha’s plan is for Jake to run the story about Ohno’s plans in the paper, making them null and void. However, in return, Ohno will help by providing another structure that could benefit Ishida. This would keep Ohno’s job while also saving Samantha’s ass. Jake agrees to help run the story.

Sato and Hayama are walking through the snow because of what Hayama did. After hitching a ride, Sato tells Hayama that he will cover for him by getting the guns he has been stashing and, in return, will leave his brother alone. Hayama has no choice but to agree because if Ishida finds out how he acted with Ota, he will be in trouble.

Ishida informs Sato that the Ministry of Transportation announced the plans before Samantha provided them with the information. But Samantha and Ohno want to meet later tonight at the club and want Sato there with them in case a lesson needs to be taught.

Who will take over the Chihara-kai?

On the ride to the club, Ishida talks to Sato and calls out Hayama lying to him. Sato doesn’t rat out Hayama’s actions but confirms that he had been stashing guns along the way, meaning he lied to him. Ishida said he did it to protect his brothers, which is why he will put him in charge of the Chihara-kai upon his passing.

Tozawa announces that they will not be running things the same way anymore. He says that they will be running Tozawa Enterprise, and he will be their president. At first, there is some blowback, but he plans to ensure everyone is paid from top to bottom so the cops can no longer come after them.
