George Tulip was a staff member at The Academy at Ivy Ridge, the controversial private boarding school explored in the shocking Netflix docuseries The Program: Cons, Cults, and KidnappingThe former boys’ program director at the facility is one of many staffers with a litany of offenses directed at him, but his current whereabouts are unknown.

George Tulip’s Whereabouts Are Unknown

There is very little information about George Tulip available, and his current whereabouts are unknown. The specifics of what happened to him are also difficult to determine, though the Netflix series alleges that he was behind a lot of mental and physical abuse in the school. These charges are similar to those levied on many other staff members at the academy, including its founder and director, Jason Finlinson.

George Tulip was the former boy’s program director at Ivy Ridge and was one of many staff members accused of terrible actions while employed there. Despite the allegations, there is no evidence to suggest he was ever arrested and legally charged.

What Are The Allegations Against George Tulip?

Tulip was described as a “tyrant and child abuser” and interviews with accusers would say that he often used physical force, including restraining techniques that were disproportionate to the situation.

According to an article on LatestBollyHolly, the investigation by the filmmakers would uncover documentation that tied Tulip to various instances of abuse. The paperwork included handwritten notes and signed confessions. Video footage would also show Tulip involved in very aggressive behavior, and also encouraging another staff member to forcibly shave a student’s head. He was also accused of fostering an incredibly abusive environment.

In a Reddit thread discussing the above article, many commentators seemed to corroborate the accusations with personal accounts. While it should be taken with a pinch of salt, one user said the following:

This is down the road from my house, I know him personally and his wife hate them both. Just a sick mindfuck this is. Nobody was to ever to speak of anything, my friend tried doing a podcast and got followed to her house and told to shut it down so glad everything is coming out and glad I’m able to truly blast these abusers in person

There’s apparently more that can’t be stated for fear of legal repercussions.

There is so far nothing to confirm that Tulip was ever arrested in connection with the Academy. The article from Bolly Holly implies that he may have been arrested, but there is nothing concrete to suggest this is true.

Who directed The Program: Cons, Cults, and Kidnapping?

The Program: Cons, Cults, and Kidnapping was directed by Katherine Kubler, who was one of the students forced to attend the school for fifteen months. Katherine was only sixteen when she was tricked into going to the school. After the traumatic death of her mother, Katherine would rebel against her new stepmother and would be placed against her will in the facility by her father. Her experiences at Ivy Ridge would lead to her campaign against those involved, and after many years of research and development, the result would be the shocking Netflix documentary.

When did Ivy Ridge close?

The Academy at Ivy Ridge would finally be closed in March 2009. Incredibly, there were still around sixty students staying in the facility at the time, and they were decanted back to their families or other schools. Ivy Ridge claimed that the school was closing for restructuring, but it would never re-open.
