The essence of a murder mystery is to have everything make sense at the end. The story should be fulfilling for its audience, leaving them feeling whole, and while Murder Mubarak is investigative, and we’re taken on a journey of discovering the killer, it’s anticlimactic in its ending.
Essentially the storyline is about the rich socialites getting caught up in a series of murders at a fancy hotel, with one non-traditional police officer out to find the perpetrator.
As the film progresses we watch as our quirky police officer tries to discover the truth while more murders happen around him. As we’re taken through each suspect’s events, each remembers different details, which leads to some comical, memorable scenes, such as a huge food fight in slow motion.
How does Murder Mubarak end?
In the last twenty minutes, the mystery is finally solved. The build-up to the big reveal is the quickest part of the film, with more killings happening as the police are closing in on the killer.
Like all classic murder mysteries, we’re all in one room with all the characters as we watch our investigator take us through his investigation and lead everyone to the murderer and more importantly, their motives.
During the final revelation, Bhavani announces that Kashi is the one who has committed the crimes, despite knowing that he didn’t, knowing that the true killer’s love for Kashi will make them confess. Then they do, and it’s the widow Bambi.
In the final scenes, we see Bambi in prison with Kashi, a free man, with the determination to help Bambi.
It’s a far more deep ending than I was expecting from what has been quite a funny and whimsical film. Yet it still felt like an anticlimax. Maybe it’s because this harsh and very serious ending didn’t match the tone of the film, or perhaps it’s because even though the killer was under our nose the whole time, the flashback revelations didn’t feel clever; where you’re overwhelmed with evidence you missed as a viewer such as films like Shutter Island.
Murder Mubarak Characters, Victims, and Suspects
Prince Harry: A pretty, white cat who ends up being burned to death.
Leo Matthews: Lecherous, but good looking. A flirt, filled with charm and sex appeal. He’s the hot Zumba instructor who is the first to be killed. His death is in the gym, where the weights have landed on him and stopped him breathing. A death worthy of the Final Destination films.
Yash Bathra: The junkie of the group. Brazen, and full-on.
Rannvijay Singh: The show off. Flashes his money around, and acts like he knows everything and everyone’s business.
Akash Dogra: The pitiable. Struggling with his identity, he’s trying to figure out who he is and where he stands with his family.

Cookie Katoch: Loves a good cocktail, drinks for pleasure and to calm her nerves. Also a huge flirt.
Guppie Ram: A space cadet, who is seen as a joke, and isn’t worthy of being murdered (a joke in the film). He works at the club doing all odd jobs from cleaning to gardening. He suffers from dementia, and when he thinks he’s killed Prince Harry (the cat) it’s made to look like he’s killed himself.
Theju and Thinsuk: The unlikely lookalikes. Two people who were at the club, and who worked with Leo.
Ganga: A nightmare girl who also works at the club as a beauty therapist. Harsh attitude, she’s hard to read.
Minu Dimri: She has an abusive husband and regularly cheats on him, and did so with Leo. She seems weak and hopeless, but is she?
Who was the murderer?
Bambi is the murderer in Murder Mubarak.
Bambi admits that her love Kashi and her obsession with the Delhi Club are the motives behind the murders. Being a member of the elite club meant everything to her, which is why she chose to marry a rich man instead of the love of her life. Ganga (the maid) becomes his lover, causing him to leave Bambi, which sent her into a fit of rage and caused her to kill him with a ceramic sculpture.
This is what dementia-suffering Guppie reveals to Leo, who then blackmails Bambi, who then kills him. Bambi also does awful things like manipulate Guppie by taking advantage of his illness, persuading him to take his own life. Bambi also puts Yash, her childhood friend, through a drug overdose which leaves him in a coma.
Bambi, the sweet, sexy, and romantic widow turns out to be the manipulative murderer.
