A war is coming in Episode 7 of Shogun, which debuts on April 2nd. Lord Ishido has done everything in his power to impeach Lord Toranaga but has been stopped several times. After Lord Ishido killed one of the members of the Council of Regents in Episode 6, Lord Toranaga has declared they will attempt the Crimson Sky on Osaka. We look at the many possibilities ahead for us in the next episode.
What will Episode 7 of Shogun be about?
Shogun Episode 7, titled “A Stick of Time”, follows the story of Toranaga having to make a deal with a long-lost family member after he is outplayed by a new alliance in Osaka.
How will the Crimson Sky play out?
We learned that the Crimson Sky was a plan formulated long ago with a single, violent rush on Osaka Castle. At the end of Episode 6, Lord Toranaga announced they would push forward with the plan. Even within the synopsis of this episode, it doesn’t seem like the plan will go off very well. With many of Lord Toranaga’s crew killed in the earthquakes, the numbers game isn’t in their favor.
What does John Blackthorne do next?
Blackthorne’s number one goal is to get his ship and men back. Even after Lord Toranaga awarded him new titles, he didn’t want them, so he asked to work with them on his boat. He was denied this, and Toranaga sent him to the brothel for the night.
Of course, the upcoming battle will alter things for everyone, but will Blackthorne stay and fight or continue to push for his ship? I see him staying and fighting because the sparks between him and Lady Mariko are too much for him to leave.
The battle of Lady Mariko and Lady Ochiba?
Although nothing is set in stone, we saw much talk about Lady Mariko’s and Ochiba’s upbringing in the last episode. Lady Ochiba holds a grudge against Lord Toranga because she believes he helped plan her father’s murder. She has been seeking revenge ever since and has helped Lord Ishido put the pieces in place to take him down.
Lady Mariko discovered that her father expected to marry her off but have her return later in life to finish what was started. Both ladies are at the forefront of leadership for both sides, so I can imagine we can expect a battle between these two before the series ends. This is by far the most exciting storyline as we head into the back half of the season.

Episode 7 of Shogun is scheduled to be released on FX and Hulu on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024. The release time is 3 AM EST. Episode 7 is titled “A Stick of Time” and will have a runtime of 54 minutes.
