Invincible Season 2 Episode 7

The penultimate episode of Invincible Season 2 left Mark in a devastating position. Not only has Amber broken up with him, but Angstrom Levy is now holding Debbie and Oliver hostage. It sets up an action-packed finale in Episode 8, as Mark will have to fight Levy to keep his mother and half-brother safe.

Another big moment for Mark in Episode 7 was being introduced to the Viltrumite Anissa. She’s brutal, committed to the Viltrumite Empire, and convinced of Earth’s need to be forced into joining it. She attempts to convince Mark of this, but he remains loyal to Earth. The two have a much more complicated relationship in the original comics, and this is one that the show could adapt.

Will Invincible get help to fight Angstrom Levy?

Episode 7 ends with the shocking realization that Angstrom Levy, the hero-turned-villain, is holding Debbie and Oliver hostage in their own home to lure Mark back for a confrontation. As Levy has demonstrated that he’s extremely powerful, Mark is going to need all the help he can get to beat him.

Help will likely be there in the form of the Guardians of the Globe, and Atom Eve. They will be all too willing to help Mark fight for his family and get them out of Levy’s clutches. Mark also has a direct line to Cecil via his earpiece, so all he needs to do is to alert him and Cecil can send back up.

Cecil doesn’t even need tipping off directly, as he’s already admitted to Mark he lightly monitors Debbie’s house for certain trigger words and phrases. Levy doesn’t know about this, so Mark can get him to walk into activating it by steering the conversation in a direction he knows will trip the security.

Of course, if extra help does arrive, they’ll have to tread extremely carefully. Levy likely wants Invincible to come alone, or else he’ll harm or even kill Debbie and Oliver. So they will have to be freed before everyone takes on Levy.

Donald Might Sacrifice Himself

Perhaps audiences might see Donald voluntarily sacrifice himself. That would be a fitting way to cap off his arc, in his past lives he didn’t know that he could come back or was resurrected, but now he can do it in the knowledge that he’s safe.

Levy himself will be a difficult fight, as he’s got the entire multiverse at his disposal. He could easily bring all manner of horrible creatures to fight Mark and his pals, or just as easily split them up by sending them to different dimensions and picking them off one by one. It will require coordination to beat him.

And this is something the Guardians of the Globe has been lacking. Bulletproof has made it clear that he doesn’t believe in the team, and tension between Amanda and Rudy has been bubbling away for several episodes. Rex Splode and Shrinking Rae have yet to fully recover from their fight against Lizard League, and Immortal is on holiday. If they don’t get their act together, it could spell doom for Mark’s family.

Invincible Season 2 Episode 8 Could Adapt the Controversial Comic Arc Between Anissa and Mark

Anissa is a high-ranking agent in the Viltrumite Empire. It’s clear she’s a powerful foe, beating Mark with ease. She tries to get Mark to accept his duty to the Viltrumite Empire, yet he refuses. This isn’t likely the only encounter she’ll have with Mark, as the Viltrumites will return to Earth in the future.

In the comics, Anissa and Mark have an even worse relationship. Not only does she beat Mark for not accepting his Viltrumite heritage, but she also forces herself onto him, sexually assaulting Mark. It’s one of the most disturbing and controversial moments from the comics. This interaction leads to the introduction of Mark and Anissa’s biological son Markus Murphy, who becomes a major character in his own right.

Prime Video is no stranger to depicting dark and disturbing moments in its shows, as the many uncomfortable moments in its other superhero show The Boys prove. So it’s possible that this moment might be featured in a future episode of Invincible, as gruesome and difficult as it would be to watch. It could lead to Markus Murphy making his debut, adding to Debbie’s childcare troubles.
