'Buying London': Netflix's Next Big Real Estate Drama After 'Selling Sunset'

If the premise for Buying London sounds familiar, it’s probably because you watched Selling Sunset. The UK-set Netflix series follows a crew of real estate agents selling high-end properties in England’s capital and is looking to replicate the success of that exceedingly popular upscale forerunner. People can’t seem to get enough of wildly overpriced properties and the associated drama that comes with them, and if nothing else, the streaming giant, like the brokers in these shows, knows what sells.

Netflix’s Buying London Will Bring Real Estate Drama to London

Buying London follows the exploits of long-time estate agent Daniel Daggers, who has been in the business for twenty-five years, graduating to selling apartments and flats to the rich and famous. He reveals that he has sold over 5 billion pounds worth of property, and the show covers his current business dealings and the team he has assembled to work for him.

The official Netflix synopsis says:

“The talented team set out to conquer the super prime high-end real estate market from the prestigious streets of Mayfair to the exclusive enclaves of Holland Park as we follow the group as they navigate the intricacies of their personal lives as well as striving to make their mark in the glamorous world of luxury real estate.”

The Selling Sunset Universe Continues to Expand

The show will focus just as much on the private lives of the agents as it does on the properties they sell. With Selling Sunset becoming a hit show, it makes sense that the format would be adopted for a U.K. market, hoping to emulate the success, and I suppose you can’t blame them for trying.

Selling Sunset has been running for seven seasons, and would be the source for other shows with the same premise running in other areas, such as Selling Tampa and Selling the O.C. Of course, the U.K. is very different from the U.S. and it may be hard for the show to capture the same drama and energy, but you can see from the trailer that they are certainly emulating the tone of the earlier shows.

When will Buying London Be Released on Netflix?

Buying London will be released globally on Netflix in May of 2024, but at the time of writing, there is no exact release date.

Buying London Cast Details

The main focus of the show is the dramatically named Daniel Daggers. We see the landscape through Daniel, and he is the lynchpin for the series. The fact that he refers to himself as Mr. Super Prime perhaps gives you an idea of his personality.

Daniel founded DDRE Global, an independent agency based in Marylebone in 2020. He would then employ a team of agents to build his real estate empire. The trailer of the series so far only features Daniel himself, but there could be a few agents from his company featured on the show.

Advisers Alex Evagora, Reme Nicole, Benji Weinberger, Rasa Bagdonaviciute, Rosi Walden, Richard Lightwing, Aisha Bhatia, Lauren Christy, Oliver Hamilton, and Jess Bishop could all be featured on screen, as well as another ten agents could all possibly appear. A look at the DDRE Instagram page will show you some of the agents doing their presentations for luxury properties and may be a clue about who will be featured on the show, but just now, it’s all speculation. You will need to watch the show to find out.
