Netflix has confirmed the release date for the upcoming rom-com Mother of the Bride. The film is sure to be a delight for fans of the genre and the Mother’s Day release makes it even more timely. Robin has a long and well-respected portfolio of work in film and TV. You will know her work from shows such as MacGuver, Remington Steele, Beauty and the Beast, Quantum Leap, Star Trek Voyager, and When Calls the Heart. Robin also has a history with Netflix, and if you like your romantic comedies, you will be familiar with The Princess Switch series, which she would write and produce. The feel-good Christmas films would be very successful for the platform, with three films in the franchise so far. Robin seems to be a safe bet for Netflix, who do not doubt that Mother of the Bride will be another hit for them.

Mother of the Bride Production Timeline
Here’s a brief timeline of how the rom-com made it to our screens;
- A press release from Netflix in February 2023 would reveal that the film was going into production.
- By April 2023, the cast for the film had been filled out, and it was revealed that production had begun with location work taking place in Thailand.
- A release date for Mother’s Day 2024 was hoped for — in the US, the day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May, which will be May 12th.
- Since the team hit the target, the film will be released on May 9, 2024, dropping the film in time for the family to settle down and watch together.

The Netflix Movie Has No Connection to the 1993 Movie of the Same Name
There was a nineties film of the same name that was a made-for-TV movie with another mother dealing with a daughter’s wedding, but there does not seem to be a connection between this film and the Netflix release. Some of you may also remember a 2013 reality TV series of the same name that ran for one season following real-life mothers looking for inspiration when dressing for their daughter’s special day.
