Summary

Despite a season filled with plenty of action and humor, this is easily the most entertaining episode thus far.

After weeks of spontaneous run-ins, Laios’ party has finally made contact with both Kabru and Shuro’s parties. With this many adventurers together, locating Falin or even returning to the surface should be easy. However, nothing is ever easy in the Dungeon, and with the Mad Mage still potentially lurking, there’s a chance no one makes it off the fifth floor in Episode 17 of Delicious in Dungeon, either.

The episode opens with Kabru discussing how inhumane it is to bring someone back to life the way Laios and his party did. Shuro cuts him off angrily when Kabru suggests his anger is related.

The Harpies and Monster Falin

Shuro admits that while he would’ve resurrected Falin, what upsets him most is Laios’s nonchalant attitude toward his time in the Dungeon. As Laios acknowledges that he didn’t fully comprehend the ramifications of what he did, Chilchuck runs in, asking for assistance with a hoard of Harpies attacking the cooking crew.

The parties attempt to fight the Harpies when suddenly Falin appears, a giant monster that seems to be part dragon and bird. She kills two party members, but Shuro still orders his party not to kill her.

Realizing she is too dangerous, Laios goes to kill Falin but hesitates. Kabru stabs her repeatedly instead, but it is not enough to take her down. However, after casting a deadly spell, Falin retreats.

With the threat gone, Holm begins reviving as many people as he can. At the same time, Shuro confronts Marcille, threatening to turn her in for using Black Magic. He and Laios break out into a fight when Laios refuses, saying he needs her to fight the Mad Mage. The two continue to fight, airing out long-term grievances while the others help one another.

Eventually, Shuro decides to leave both the Dungeon and the Island. The parties gather for one final meal before everyone else leaves.

Episode 17 Is The Most Exciting Yet

While every episode of Delicious in Dungeon has been delightful, Episode 17 was the most exciting by far. It had just the right amounts of everything from violence to comedy to character development, really highlighting just how much more this series has to offer.

Learning so much about Laios’ character through Shuro was especially interesting. Every moment and reveal in this series feels precise and perfectly timed. It will be interesting to see how what viewers learned in this episode will affect the rest of the season.
